We were lucky to catch up with Julius Adame recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Julius thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

Rock my Soul is all about connecting souls through music. I came up with Rock My Soul Records
from going to pop up markets as a customer & I wanted to create a space where clients can come out to experience music through listening to records, exchanging knowledge & buying vinyl.

Julius, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Hi! I’m Julius Adame: owner of Rock My Soul Records- a traveling record shop that buys/sells/trades records & other music related items such as cassettes, record cases, collection cards & more!

Rock my soul records is founded on music exploration, discovery & individuality. Music is how I connect with not only with myself but others.
All around us there is music, everyone has a story with it & I want to not only hear people’s stories but help them build upon their own music journeys as-well in the best way I can with records!

For me records started off not as normal coming into the digital age where the most common way of listening to music for most of my life is streaming music. However me always being quite different, I looked for other options to discover & learn more about music. A casual stroll to Youtube & you end up going down a rabbit whole of videos about one of the most life changing discoveries for myself: vinyl records.

Personally records are everything I find interesting: music & history. Records are not only a great way to experience music but the feel, touch, sight & haha even sometimes the smell of records is just as great as the music.
From the simplistic or complex cover illustrations to all the text on the covers that shares years of information; to the covers of songs, record labels from around the world, excerpts from bands or singers, etc. I love to learn & experience every kind of music that I can get my hands on!

Throughout my journey of my own musical exploration, I am always greeted with the gratitude of meeting anyone wishing to share knowledge & kindness with others & myself! I feel it is of most importance to spread years of information, stories & music to anyone with an open ear. (:

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

What helped me build my reputation is the good use and amount of vinyl I bring in with the condition of presentation every time: including organized by alphabetical, sleeving high priced vinyl to insure protection and bags with every purchase.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

The most effective strategy for growing my clientele at the moment is: posting on social media like Instagram, heading to different vendor markets & setting up around san antonio, and passing out business cards to customers & future interested clients.
