Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Juliun Starks. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Juliun, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My main priority when photographing someone is to provide you that sigh of relief that comes in knowing that you have a photographer who is zealous, and excited, about capturing the essence of your moments, the depth of their bond, and the impact of their emotions. This is important to me because, growing up, my mom placed a high value on having family photos. And this was something that I pushed back upon, as I didn’t see the importance of them. Until, it was too late. When my grandma passed away, I realized that, although I had the memories, I didn’t have many pictures of us together. From then on, the importance of photography skyrocketed for me and now I strive to make sure that no one has the same regrets that I have. I want people to be able to have access to the time machine that looking at a photo can be.
Juliun, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I think my main strategy is just being my authentic self. I like to think that when you hire me as your photographer, you’re not just getting a photographer, you’re also getting a friend and someone who legitimately cares about making sure that you are happy. Having said that, I maintain contact, and keep in touch, via texting occasionally but mainly through social medias like Instagram, for example.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
There is! A big thing that I’ve noticed as I’ve been on my photography journey is that a lot, and I do mean a lot, of people are really insecure about themselves and feel like they aren’t photogenic. And I want to prove that, that is so far from the truth. I want people to see themselves the way that those who love them see them. And when they see their finished photos, I want them to have that “wow, I never knew that THAT’S how I looked,” feeling. That feeling of immense pride in themselves. And if I can do that for even one person, I’ve definitely done my job.
