We recently connected with Julio Poletti and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Julio thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success can be considered relative because it depends on individual perspectives, goals, and values. What one person may define as success may not be the same for another person. For example, someone may define success as having a high-paying job, while another person may define it as having a fulfilling career, regardless of salary.
So, the first thing I ask myself or my clients is “What is success and what does that look like?
I enjoy sitting down with my clients to understand their unique definition of success so that I can help them develop a content campaign that aligns with their objectives.
Personally, I think it takes having that recognition and then doing everything it takes to do the work. In my personal journey, I wanted to become a well-rounded storyteller. So, I knew it was important to be knowledgeable about different skills, tools, trends, and formats within the journalism and communications industry, so that I could become more competitive in the field, and eventually be able to help others with their businesses, organizations and brands. That’s why I’ve always made it a point to learn about print journalism, digital media, traditional media, multimedia content production, and public relations.
My diverse skillset allows me to provide my clients with comprehensive support in developing a content campaign that is tailored to their specific needs. Whether it’s creating compelling written material, maintaining brand standards, coordinating content development across departments, or managing media relations and all associated documentation, I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve their goals and their definition of success.
Furthermore, I enjoy helping my clients navigate the complex landscape of public relations, which can often be overwhelming. By working closely with them, I am able to create a strategic plan that encompasses all aspects of public relations, from crisis communications to media outreach and press conferences.
In summary, I strongly believe that success is relative, and it’s important to sit down with clients to understand their unique definitions of success. With my diverse skillset and experience, I am committed to helping my clients achieve their goals by developing a comprehensive content campaign and providing strategic public relations support.
Finally, it is important to understand the importance of continuous learning and growth. To reach that success, you need to constantly seek new opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge and be willing to adapt to changing circumstances and trends in your industry.
In summary, success is achieved through a combination of perseverance, a strong work ethic, a willingness to take risks, effective communication and collaboration, and a commitment to continuous learning and growth. It also takes trial and error. And, that’s part of the journey.

Julio, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Julio Poletti, and I am a bilingual journalist and communications professional with a passion for storytelling. My journey in this industry began during my college years, where I studied Mass Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Spanish.
Since then, I have gained experience in various areas of the industry, including print journalism, digital media, traditional media, multimedia content production, and public relations. This diverse background has allowed me to become a well-rounded professional and to develop a unique skill set that sets me apart from others. I’ve worked in English and Spanish with organizations such as, KHSU Huntsville, Univision, MundoFox, 9News Denver, Venue Magazine, Sam Houston State University, Telemundo, Reset Tv, Cinemat, The Palm Beach Post and currently The Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
Currently, I work for The Denver Museum of Nature & Science and also provide bilingual communications and media relations services for clients, including content creation, media outreach, crisis communications, and more. My goal is to help clients tell their stories effectively and to connect with their target audiences in a meaningful way.
What sets me apart from others is my dedication to understanding my clients’ unique needs and goals. I take the time to sit down with my clients to understand their definition of success, so that I can develop a tailored approach that aligns with their objectives.
One of the things that I am most proud of is my ability to adapt to changing circumstances and trends in the industry. I am always learning and growing, and I am committed to staying up-to-date on the latest tools, technologies, and best practices in the field.
Overall, I am passionate about what I do and committed to delivering high-quality services that help my clients achieve their goals.
My diverse experience working with different communities in both English and Spanish has given me a unique perspective and understanding of the importance of Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) initiatives. I am passionate about helping my clients create meaningful and impactful DEAI programs that resonate with their target audience and support their goals.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots I made in my career was when I decided to leave my hometown and move to different markets to gain more experience in my field. It was a scary and difficult decision, as it meant leaving behind my friends and family, and starting anew in a completely unfamiliar place.
However, I knew that in order to become a more well-rounded journalist and communications professional, I needed to gain experience in different markets and land different positions within my field. This meant learning new skills and expanding my knowledge of digital, print, broadcast, storytelling, video editing, and public relations.
Each time I made a move, it was a scary experience, but it was also an opportunity to grow and learn. I was able to work with different people, in different environments, and on different projects, which allowed me to become a more versatile professional.
The biggest lesson I learned from these experiences is that sometimes we need to take risks and step out of our comfort zones in order to achieve our goals. Although it can be scary and difficult at times, it can also be incredibly rewarding and lead to great success in the end.
Overall, I am grateful for these experiences and for the opportunities they provided me to pivot in my career and become a more well-rounded professional. They taught me that sometimes the scariest decisions can also be the most rewarding ones.
Now, I have friends all over the United States and each new friendship, mentor and colleague has been key for my overall growth. I have deep gratitude for my college town, but I know that if I had stayed there after graduation, I wouldn’t be the person today.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
As a journalist and communications professional, there are several missions and goals that drive my creative journey. First and foremost, I have a passion for taking my clients’ ideas, projects, and initiatives and sharing them with the world. I love connecting with audiences and helping them to benefit from the work that I do.
In addition to this, I have a deep commitment to bridging the gaps between English and Spanish and creating a more inclusive society and world as a whole. I believe in the power of communication to bring people together and break down barriers. My mission is to help my clients reach a wider audience by providing bilingual communications services that resonate with diverse audiences.
My love for the environment, nature, and science is also evident in the content that I create. I enjoy igniting curiosity in my audience and helping them to appreciate and protect the natural world around them. This is why I love working with clients that also care about our planet, so I can help them share their knowledge and inspire others to take action.
Furthermore, I would love to see kids all over the world become more educated and follow their dreams. This is why I have taken great pride in the education stories I’ve done with several news outlets and with different clients, so that I can help create content that is engaging and inspiring for young learners. I believe that education is key to creating a better world for future generations.
Finally, I aspire to be able to work remotely from anywhere in the world one day and be able to provide my clients with the same freedom and flexibility. I’d like to create a work-life balance that allows me to pursue my passions and live life on my own terms. I would like to help similar-minded individuals to reach this level of freedom and success, no matter where they are located and want to relocate to.
Overall, my creative journey is driven by a deep passion for connecting with audiences, breaking down barriers, making a positive impact on future generations, and creating a work-life balance that allows me to pursue my passions while helping others do the same.
