We were lucky to catch up with Juliette Greindl recently and have shared our conversation below.
Juliette, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I launched Assaya Jewelry when I moved to Bangkok. Leaving my job in Belgium and relocating with my husband and our 3 children was a big adventure for me. After taking the time to settle in, I had the great opportunity to pause and reflect on what I truly wanted to do with this adventure. With a love for jewelry and having already designed a few pieces for myself, those around me encouraged me to explore becoming a jewelry designer. It’s worth mentioning that Bangkok is known for having some of the world’s best artisans for jewelry creation. I embarked on a search for the workshop that would be willing to collaborate with me on this beautiful project. After several months of searching and a lot of hard work, I found it! And that’s how the story of Assaya Jewelry began.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Assaya Jewelry is a brand of semi-precious jewelry. Each piece I design is inspired by the travels I’ve undertaken or the nature surrounding me. My pieces are meticulously crafted by the artisans at the workshop I’ve been collaborating with since my beginnings in Bangkok. These artisans possess exceptional skill in working with silver and gold. I’ve opted to work with these precious metals with the intention of offering a range of fine and elegant jewelry pieces that closely resemble gold jewelry but are more affordable, allowing for more frequent changes in accessories.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Launching Assaya Jewelry in Bangkok was a bold move after leaving my job in Belgium. Amidst the challenges of relocation and finding the right artisans, I persisted. Months of searching led me to the perfect workshop, reaffirming that resilience and determination are the keys to turning dreams into reality.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The most fruitful channels for acquiring new clients have undoubtedly been through word-of-mouth, private sales, and the development of my website and social media presence. Assaya Jewelry was launched in 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, so it’s safe to say that we’re still in the early stages. However, I place great emphasis on people’s desire to make more conscious purchases, supporting small creators rather than large corporations. Every day, I strive to enhance my communication efforts to increase the brand’s visibility. It’s a significant challenge, but one that’s truly worthwhile.
