Julieta, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Daizzy Gear came to life when we welcomed our first puppy into our family—a mini dachshund. She’s tiny, with a long body, and as any dachshund owner knows, finding a harness that fits their unique body type can be a real challenge. Most harnesses we tried either didn’t fit well, were uncomfortable, or lacked any style. That frustration was what sparked my inspiration to start designing harnesses myself.
At first, I was both anxious and nervous. I wasn’t sure how people would react to my creations, especially since I was stepping into a space I hadn’t been part of before. I spent a lot of time researching, looking for the best materials, patterns, and designs. My focus was on making something that was not only functional but stylish and affordable, combining all the elements I felt were missing from what was available.

I’ve always had experience as a business owner and seller, but stepping into the world of design was completely new for me. When I started Daizzy Gear, I had no formal design background—I relied on research, trusted my instincts, and learned by doing. The inspiration came when we brought our mini dachshund home and struggled to find harnesses that fit her unique body shape. That experience sparked the idea to create gear that was not only functional but also stylish and comfortable for all dogs.
What sets Daizzy Gear apart from other brands is the attention to detail in every product. We use high-quality materials to ensure comfort, durability, and unique designs that stand out. Plus, we pride ourselves on offering a personalized customer experience, really listening to our customers’ feedback and evolving with them. Our products solve a common problem for dog owners: finding gear that is stylish, of good quality, and affordable. We make it easy to dress up your dog without sacrificing comfort or practicality.
I’m most proud of every step I’ve taken in this journey so far. Though it’s been a short time, each moment of growth has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m excited for what the future holds for Daizzy Gear.
At the heart of it, I want our customers to feel a sense of joy when they gear up for their daily dog walks. We want people to look forward to walking their dogs, knowing that not only do they have stylish, high-quality gear, but also that these moments help strengthen the bond between them and their pets. We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
At Daizzy Gear, we sell our products on our website, eBay, and Amazon. We started selling on Amazon two years ago, with our first product being a retractable leash. Selling on Amazon allowed us to reach a large audience quickly, but as we grew, we wanted to expand even further and provide a more personalized experience for our customers. That’s why we decided to sell directly on our website as well.
The major advantage of selling on our own website is the level of control we have over the customer experience. When customers buy directly from us, we get to know them and their dogs better. We can respond more directly to their needs, and this connection makes the process more enjoyable and productive for everyone involved. We believe that building these relationships is key to offering personalized service, something that is harder to achieve on third-party platforms.
However, selling on Amazon comes with its own set of challenges, especially the high level of competition. There are many similar products on the platform, so we work hard to differentiate ourselves by offering better quality products and unique designs that you won’t find elsewhere. While competition can be tough, it has also pushed us to continually innovate and raise our standards.
Ultimately, having multiple sales channels helps us balance both reach and customer experience. Each platform has its pros and cons, but we’re focused on ensuring that, no matter where our customers find us, they’re receiving top-quality products and service.


What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Our reputation has been built on a few core principles: product quality, personal customer service, and genuine customer feedback. From the start, we’ve focused on offering high-quality products that not only look great but are also comfortable and durable for dogs. This commitment to quality has been key in earning the trust of our customers.
Personalized customer service is another important factor. We make an effort to truly connect with our customers, listen to their needs, and provide tailored solutions. This makes each interaction more meaningful, and it’s something that resonates with dog owners who want to feel understood and valued.
Honest testimonials and reviews have also played a big role. We actively encourage our customers to share their experiences, whether through reviews or photos. These real, authentic voices help build trust with new customers who may be unsure about trying a new brand.
Building relationships with influencers and dog owners has been crucial as well. By collaborating with people who genuinely love our products, we’re able to reach a wider audience and reinforce the credibility of Daizzy Gear.
