We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Juliet Piper a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Juliet, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
I’m so lucky and grateful that I grew up watching my parents (and many members of my extended family) fiercely pursue their artistic passions for decades. As a little girl, I watched my dad play music on stage for huge crowds, and I followed my mom around with her camera as she took photographs professionally for big-name acts. Throughout my whole life, any creative endeavor I wanted to try was always encouraged. My dad helped me record my first song at age ten and continues to help me in my 30s. I was always made to feel like my art mattered and that my visions were important. I realize how rare this is, and I owe so much to their genuine support. A huge inspiration for my upcoming book, Courageously Creative, is passing along the Piper family wisdom to fellow artists so that they too can feel wholeheartedly supported on their creative journeys.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Juliet Piper, and I’m a lifelong artist who helps fellow creatives ignite their inner confidence and build their artistic legacies. I’m here to help you *finally* dust off your deepest artistic dreams (you know, the ones that have been sitting on the shelf for WAY too long) and show you exactly how to turn those dreams into your sparkling reality.
I’m also an author, educator, certified life coach, dreamer, and the reason there’s glitter and confetti everywhere! I believe creativity is a very real form of magic, and I love inspiring artists to courageously bring their life’s work forward in a way that feels empowering, nurturing, and fun.
I was born in Los Angeles and raised by a musical family that taught me everything I know about living a creative life. I’m a composer for Sesame Street, my songs have been placed on prime time HBO and MTV shows, and I have been featured in Rolling Stone, Free People, Earmilk, Music Connection Magazine. My music has also been featured on major radio stations worldwide. When I’m not writing songs or performing up on stage, my greatest joy is teaching and mentoring. I’ve worked with over 800 happy students and clients and celebrated so many breakthroughs and success stories!

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I think the biggest resource I was unaware of for a long time was mentorship/coaching. For years, I didn’t realize there were likeminded people out there who were wildly passionate about helping others reach their goals. The best investments I’ve ever made were learning from people who understood something I deeply wanted to grasp, from intuitive development to mindset and manifestation principles. I feel like I jumped timelines as a result of my days as a mentee! It’s one of the reasons I’m excited to launch my own powerful suite of courses for creatives this winter!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I love when I go big and move with courage, and it inspires a fellow creative to step into their bravery as well. When one of us shines, we help give others permission to shine too. It sets off a butterfly effect around the world. Hearing phrases like “I saw you write the song/write the book/get on stage/etc., so I realized I could do it too…” is the most rewarding thing I could ever hear.
