We recently connected with JulieMarie Bonsanti and have shared our conversation below.
JulieMarie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
When I began my journey with the Pure Romance mission, I lost many friends. And what I learned is this.
Friends and family are in our lives to lend us support when we need. They do not want to “be bought”. While some family members may want to support and help you kick off your business, do not expect all to.
Business and family, in my opinion, should be kept separate unless they truly want to support or are interested in the products/mission.
I am lucky to have many family and friends who truly love the products I sell and mission I stand for. For 13 years, they have had my back !
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Julie and I am a native New Yorker who went to college for Liberal Arts. I am part of the women empowerment mission to educate women on self care, self love, wellness and intimacy. I organize workshop parties for women 18+ to learn a little bit about their bodies, different phases in their lives and what’s safe in the market to use. I aim to educate, entertain, and empower women!
Have you ever had to pivot?
A HUGE pivot for me and my business was the pandemic and relying fully on virtual parties. This was tough but luckily, many people had downloaded the apps to have virtual meet ups.
This was an interesting time for business overall. I really missed my in home parties but eventually those began again. I remember my first party back with masks on and women who were bursting at the seems to party!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When you have a side business which you are trying to go full time with, it’s hard not to give up. I say this because there will be large pockets of time when you do not sell or book an event. People give up at this stage but the key is to keep pushing forward. If we are passionate about something, we will succeed. I am truly passionate about my parties and mission. Therefore I will never stop.
