We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Julie Novak. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Julie below.
Julie , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
I worked for other people for my entire career. But, I think things happen exactly when they’re supposed to.
Julie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started in the restaurant industry when I was eleven years old working at a pizza place in Columbus. I climbed up the hospitality ladder eventually becoming Vice President of Human Resources for Cameron Mitchell Restaurants. I left the industry to start my family but eventually found myself back in it, selling wholesale foods for restaurants, Now my husband and I own and operate three successful restaurants.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My husband and I met when he was a chef at Cameron’s of Worthington and I was the general manager. We did not get along initially and I even fired him. Eventually, we worked together again and fell in love. Work has always been part of our relationship.
Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
I could share several stories. But, we’ve always managed to pull it off, so I’d rather look at the victories.
