Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Julie Lucky. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Julie , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents, Bobby and Lula Mae Harper, have impacted my life and business in many ways. They were always there for me, and I can truly say no one on this earth loved me more than my parents did. My dad passed away in 1994 and my mother just passed away in 2021. They left a legacy for me to carry out and pass down to my children. My dad was a very wise entrepreneur (farmer in the Arkansas Delta area by the Mississippi River) and I watched him network and make connections with people in the community as long as I can remember. He truly loved people and had a reputation for being honest and doing the right thing! I learned that as a business owner, integrity is the cornerstone for building a business as well as demonstrating integrity in your personal life. My dad also joked around a lot so I have many fun memories of him! He knew how to be serious in business while having fun at the same time. My mother was a very kind person that never had anything bad to say about anyone. She was very patient and supportive of her family. She was also very smart and independent. She never waited around on someone to do something for her. The biggest thing I learned from her was to be a servant leader. She had a servant’s heart and absolutely thrived on helping others! She was also very generous! Those characteristics were lived out at home as well as in public. Both of my parents were Christians. Whenever I am faced with a decision whether business or personal, I always ask, “ What would my dad do or what would my mother do in this situation?” They truly paved the road for me to carry out their legacy and dream big! The memories I have of them are priceless! Every single day I am reminded that my purpose is to continue down the path that my parents left me in order to fulfill my God given purpose on this earth!

Julie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a mother of two grown boys, Jordan and Carson, and wife to Joel Lucky. My husband and I have lived in Dallas since 1999. I have a background in elementary education, but decided that I am more passionate about entrepreneurial endeavors. I started with Monat Global in October of 2014. Initially, we offered just natural based haircare. In 2019, we launched natural based skincare. In 2020, we launched a vegan wellness line. I quickly fell in love with working from home and helping others make money from home! I also love helping others feel more confident about their hair and skin! I help two types of people. There are those that want an extra stream of income and those that are simply looking to fix their hair and skin issues. For those that may be looking for ways to make an extra stream of income, I highly encourage them to contact me and see if it would be a fit to join me on this journey! If a person is looking to solve hair issues such as frizz, thinning hair, or wild unruly hair, I can help! If your skin is in need of rehab, I have something to offer all skin types! I am most proud of the fact that I offer natural based chemical free options for hair and skin! With so many toxins in the environment and our products, it feels good to know that I’m offering alternative options. Being able to offer a business where someone can work from home is another thing I am very proud of!! Monat is all about offering choices and opening doors that were never possible before! If a person is looking for change in their life, I would be happy to talk to them!

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I truly see myself as leading a team vs. managing a team. Inspiring others to reach their full potential is one way to maintain high morale. I guide others to use their gifts so that they feel they are contributing and having success. I don’t focus on leading others to work in their weaknesses. Having a team working in their strong areas saves time and keeps morale up. I also listen to all sides of a story and don’t make judgments so that any team member feels that talking to me is a safe place.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I stay connected with clients on social media and I truly focus on building relationships with all my clients! I send gifts occasionally such as samples of new products to help foster brand loyalty.
