Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Julie Erck, CPI,CMI. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As I helped my daughter with repairs to her newly purchased house, I became upset about the things the inspector didn’t mention on his report. I decided to become an inspector myself, to learn more about what they do and see why things were not noted. Through my training, I have gained extensive knowledge about the elements of a home and the health and safety concerns to look for, which I share with home buyers and sellers. My reports are detailed and provide information about the condition of the home, helping agents guide their clients with requests from the sellers/builders. I can also help sellers identify areas in need of attention, which helps the selling process go smoothly. With years of remodel experience, I am confident when I tell my clients, “I am here for you for the life of your homeownership”. I volunteer as an InterNACHI mentor and chapter president, helping new home inspectors through the process of starting their business. I love what I do and enjoy sharing my knowledge while learning from others at the same time.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I am a thorough inspector, and I get excited about every house I inspect. My clients have commented on my positive energy, which I bring to every job. My reports are detailed and easy to read, reflecting my passion for what I do. I stand behind my work with a Buy Back Guarantee through InterNACHI. This means that if a client is completely unsatisfied with my inspection, and I am unable to make it right, InterNACHI will buy the home back.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the toughest battles in starting a business as a Home Inspector, is finding the report software that works best for you. I would take hours making sure I didn’t miss writing something on my report so my client would know what I was talking about. I nearly quite inspecting because I thought I couldn’t learn the software fast enough. My family was the best support in this area and with training sessions, they taught me how to navigate that area of my business.
