Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Julie De La Fuente. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Julie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I got into photography to create beautiful images to uplift, encourage and inspire others. Photos have a way of bringing back memories that we might have otherwise forgotten and my mission is to take photographs that will transport you back to that moment in time. A well-crafted photograph has the ability to tell a story and connect with its viewers on a deep level. Photographs also have the power to evoke strong emotions. A single image can make us laugh, cry, or feel inspired.
I hope my legacy will be those beautiful moments i capture for all my clients, moments they can look back on for generations and feel the emotion in them.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Julie De La Fuente i am a portrait, family, couples photographer based in San Antonio. My style of photography is subtle, warm and true color. Engagements and Maternity had my heart in the beginning of my journey, i love capturing connections between people. I strive to create fun and relaxed environment that allow my clients to feel comfortable and allows them to be a 100% themselves.
I am most proud of how far I’ve come in such a short period of time and excited about where this journey will continue to take me. What sets me apart from others is my purpose, I want to be an inspiration I believe that each of us has been entrusted with gifts and talents.
I want to look for ways to use my gift to point towards God, I don’t want to just capture moments behind my lens but I also want to capture my clients heart and remind them of God’s love for us through photography.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Comparison, i had a huge comparison game in the beginning of my journey. I followed lots of photographer and wasn’t understanding why my work wasn’t as great as these other photographers. It took me a long time to realize these people who’s work i admire started off right where i was. No one is perfect at anything right away. It takes work, dedication and practice. I had to learn to only compete with myself, that the only person i needed to be better than myself was myself the day before.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Be authentic and be you. Your clients will be able to tell if you aren’t being true to yourself. The more genuine you are the more clients will resonate with you, then they will tell friends. Word of mouth and referrals will be your best friend!
