We recently connected with Julianne Mellas-Holmberg and have shared our conversation below.
Julianne , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
My hero is a watercolor artist named Cami Monet, of Orlando, FL. She is a super talented watercolor artist with a very fun personality which she portrays in her business as well. She’s five years older than me and has owned her business for 6 years online and recently opened her storefront, and recently had her first child. She puts passion and personality into her work, and her watercolor is so detailed and realistic; I’m inspired to be a better painter because of her. I got to work for her for about a year last year, which was the best experience.

Julianne , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Julianne, and I’ve had a passion for art and creative things since I was young.
I also have a love for adventure and traveling, which is where my business name comes in (Artsy Adventurist). I am currently traveling for a couple months out west, painting what I see as I go.
I’ve recently begun experimenting with plein air paintings (painting on site what you see) and it’s been such a fun change from what I normally do. I have a stationery and product business, which is also very outdoorsy styled.
This summer, I sold my art at markets in central Florida, which was a very fun experience for me, as well as a great place to meet fellow creatives and other people who are interested in the arts. I plan on doing more markets once I stop traveling.
My painting style is very detailed and realistic, which I love, and it challenges me all the time, to keep learning skills and techniques. I take pride in making each painting as realistic and accurate to the scenery/photos as possible.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
No, not yet! But I am working towards that and hoping for it to be full time. I’ve done art on the side regularly while I work other jobs.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
For me, the best source of new clients is in person at the markets I did, and instagram.
