We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Julianne Hanford a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Julianne , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?

One thing my mother instilled in me is that I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to. She was a very determined individual. Every time she decided she wanted to learn or experience something new, she would accomplish everything she needed to achieve that. When we moved to Florida, she went back to school to get her bachelor’s degree and graduated with great scores. When she wanted to travel and visit Jamaica, she worked hard, and we ended up visiting for two weeks. When she finally found the area where she wanted a house, she worked day and night for months to save for the down payment, and she got to build the house she always wanted. My mother was a very hardworking, dedicated, and determined person. Anytime I become doubtful or have a moment of weakness, I think about all the times my mother worked through her struggles and achieved her goals, and it inspires me to keep going.

HI, I’M JULES!

I am a mother first, I am blessed with the most amazing little boys ever created & the most amazing fiancé. They are my reason and motivation to conquer each day.

Secondly, I am a published Michigan based photographer. I specialize in portraits, boudoir, wedding and nature photography, I have been published in several magazines such as: Shutter Up Magazine, Framed Photographer magazine, Chasing Light Magazine and Bold & Beautiful magazine.

Photography has always been a passion of mine! As a young girl I have always dreamed of being among the great photographers of National Geographic, adventuring through different countries and landscapes. Nature photography will always be my first love, but I have recently discovered the joy of capturing precious moments among families!

My goal is to build life long, genuine connections with my clients to share the joys in your every day victories, milestones and celebrations for you and your family!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

I have moved from Florida to Michigan, this has been a drastic change for me and my family. However, this was the best decision for us. Michigan has opened up doors that wouldve never opened in Florida.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I think transparency and honesty has helped me build my brand. I have always been very forward and upfront with my clients, I like to explain the pre photoshoot and post photoshoot process in detail. I make sure to keep communication during editing process and I am realistic with my expectations of myself.
