We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Julian Ramirez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Julian, appreciate you joining us today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?

Covid was huge for my business and the Health industry overall. Two things played a major role in Covid being a positive for my business. One was the fact that people all over the world were starting to put their health first. Second was people started to order their goods online since most of the stores were shut down.

With my product being a health product and my business being a shipment based model, I saw the most success I had seen since I began in 2018.

I was now available to reach more people through social media since everyone was at home and looking for things to consume on their phone. I also could make healthy options more convenient as I could send it right to their doorstep.

Covid was a game changer for my business!

Julian, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Julian and I’m from a small town called Fluvanna in Virginia. My entire life I always had constipation issues and Diabetes and Cancer ran in my family so I wanted to make sure I stayed on top of my heath. I began playing basketball at a young age and played in college so the exercise aspect was covered, but my eating habits were far from ideal.

It was when my grandmother passed away from Cancer that I really started to take my health seriously and switched over to a Vegan diet and I ridded my constipation issues pretty much overnight. I never felt congested or heavy anymore and I knew I had to share this with the world.

It wasn’t planned to start a business, I just wanted to spread the word with people about how whole foods and fresh juices could help you live a more energetic and healthy life. Before you knew it my family and friends were asking if I they could buy juice from me. A year later and I had a full on business serving 100’s of clients in my area and now we’re shipping nationwide and have been at it for 6 years.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

I started my business as a side gig to just share the juices with family and friends and make a little extra money. It was when my social media took off that I was able to go full time and make a living off of the business.

It took 3 years but I knew that this was something that people wanted and were curious about, I just had to keep my head down and stay consistent.

I’ll never forget in 2021 when my Instagram took off. I went to sleep with 1,500 followers on my Instagram @julianthejuiceman and woke up to 3,500. I thought it was fake and a bunch of bots had followed me but nope they were real. The video I had posted about my Juice Business had gone viral and had almost 1 million views and it wasn’t another 2 weeks and I had over 75,000 followers. That’s when everything changed for my business.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Instagram has played a huge role in my success within the Juice industry and I truly believe it’s because the people can see who’s behind the Brand.

I remember seeing a video of Gary Vee where he said the owners that show their face and don’t hide behind the brand will be the brands that win in the next 5-10 years. There’s too many companies that have built a bad reputation and nowadays people want to know who’s running the show and get to know them.

Ever since I’ve heard that, I’ve been showing my face on social media and sharing my lifestyle so people know who their getting their Juice from. I’m constantly posting videos of myself in the kitchen making batches of juice and the entire process the juices go through to get to the customer and I believe that builds trust with my clients.
