Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Julian Parisi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Julian, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Its hard to believe that it has been 2 full years since I packed up my desk and left my engineering career to enter into the art world as a full time custom creator. I have always had a passion for metal work, but while in college I gathered more skills than a degree. Glass blowing allowed me to re entered the art world as an adult. Wood working soon followed. Today, I get create one of a kind metal / wood / glass sculptures that can be seen staged all around downtown Austin. I wont lie, nothing about changing my career path is easy, but at the end of the day it was worth all the risk and late nights to chase a dream…
Check out more of my work in person at “Blurred Vines” wine lounge on 7th.

Julian, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, My name is Julian S Parisi, Owner and designer at JSPCustomdesigns. We specialise in “one of a kind” custom interior and exterior art. I first started my art journey while working in a blacksmith studio down the street as a child. There I learned the basics on welding, torch work and fabrication of metal. I soon went to college to study Architectural design, while going to school I started to expand my art knowledge into the glass world. I fell in love with the motions of glass, it was so much smoother and peaceful than hammering metal. After college I took a white collar profession as a Power Distribution designer for the military. After 2 years the desk job was not for me, but the designing aspect and planning side was fascinating to me. I truly love to design something on paper and watch it come to life.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
At first it looked like NFTS were the future and was the only way to grow at a fast rate in the art world. Now I am not too sure, we have seen a decrease in NFT interest these last couple months. As an artist, I would hope collectors still value the craftsmanship put into the physical art piece. But If an artist is able to sell their digital art picture for crazy amounts of money then good for them, I would do the same. No hate on the NFT game.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
My favorite part about being an artist is problem solving. I love designing the project and watching it come to life a little bit everyday. Art teaches you the beauty in patients. You have to understand that things will never go as planned and that is ok. Sometimes you need to just sit back and work through the problem or modify the outcome. Some of my favorite pieces were mistakes. In the past I have started with one direction on a piece and ended up with a completely new art piece.
