We were lucky to catch up with Julian Nawf Ramos recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Julian , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Making the decision to start a podcast while working a full-time job without thinking about the hard work that actually goes into podcasting wasn’t the smartest thing I’ve ever done. As a fan of podcasts who listens to multiple of them daily, I thought to myself how cool it would be for me and a few buddies to start our own podcast, because in my head it all seemed so simple. We talk, joke and tell stories to each other all the time, why not do it with microphones in front of us! I didn’t even think about the hours I would have to put into editing and promoting and all of the time it would take to really push the product. Almost 4 years later and I’m still learning how to make my podcast, Tall Can Listening, successful.
Julian , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I co-host a podcast in San Antonio, TX where our main goal is to bring a guest on who wants to promote themselves but also have fun while doing it. In my eyes, what really separates us from others is that we are gonna ask the guests the most random questions that you wouldn’t typically ask them in whatever profession they’re in. We’re about to start our 4th year doing this podcast and the fact that we are still doing this for the simple fact that it’s fun and we have some loyal followers who really push us to continue is something that I am very proud of and honestly humbled by. If you head to our YouTube page, @tallcanlistening, you can see that we’re 80 episodes deep and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. We’ve had guests from all kinds of entertainment, from wrestling, film, art, cooks etc.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When we first started to podcast, the main goal was to spread the word without making people feel forced to check us out or follow us. So we did a giveaway for anyone who followed our social media and tagged a few friends and I feel like that helped us get the word out. And then we posted a few comedic videos just introducing what the podcast would be about. And Memes! Memes are always a plus when trying to get the attention of an audience.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal for this podcast and myself is to make make people genuinely laugh while making a few bucks. I feel like I’m almost there. The podcast is on the rise, people seem to be entertained by it and that makes me happy.
