We recently connected with Julia Shinkareva and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Julia, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
In modern reality, while working in such fields as I do, you undoubtedly should be flexible and as much creative as you can, researching the market every day and coming up with exclusive ideas for agencies and clients you’re working with.

Julia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a journalist. I started working in this industry over a decade ago in Milan, Italy collaborating with magazines based in the UK, Italy, Russia, etc
It all started randomly for me from a fashion blog I had when I was still a university student, to the first article in British Culture Trip as a journalist on duty. Funny, because I have degrees in business.
I was always attracted to lifestyle and fashion writing, and architectural photography inspired by early works of Ray K. Metzker and Saul Leiter.
Undoubtedly, the creative field is one of the most competitive fields in the US. I moved to America several years ago on an artist visa chasing my writing and photography dream. I felt that I was too ambitious for Europe and there was not enough space for me to create further and get inspiration from. Yet having this experience, I could bring something new to American clients, magazines, and media agencies, mixing two completely different business approaches to implementing my duties.
As a result, I was invited to LIC in NY in November 2022 and participated in a massive artistic show. It was a breakthrough for me. I’ll be participating in a show in LA later this year too.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
One of the most rewarding aspects for me is being able to meet and collaborate with other creatives making interesting projects together and becoming friends too. Networking is very important for us. We share, we discuss, we build together, sometimes it’s a one-time-only project, and sometimes it even leads to a potential artistic partnership.
I wouldn’t go that far and start talking about recognition, at the end of the day we all know each other. Okay, almost. At least here in LA & NY.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I’m currently working on a book.
This was one of my main goals in life. It’s going to take me a while from now, however, the process was officially initiated. All text and photography made by my with special editing from my American colleague.
