We were lucky to catch up with JULIA ROSE BARNETT recently and have shared our conversation below.
JULIA ROSE, appreciate you joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
My story is different from most because I didn’t expect to start a business! If anything: it was an accident that I’m abundantly grateful for.
I was an assistant working in a TV writer’s room for an ABC series and needed extra income. I was already working as a freelance psychic advisor on Keen.com, but the peak hours for making money on that website didn’t work for my full time schedule in the writer’s room. So I decided to start giving tarot readings to friends, family members, and anyone they’d recommend and charge them via Venmo (back then, you could do that!).
Then, COVID hit. The ABC show did not get picked up for a season two, I was officially unemployed– but I was busy giving readings for friends, friends-of-friends, and friends of those friends who were all returning for more readings. That’s when I realized that I had enough consistent income to start a business and made Heal With Rose official.
Once I realized I needed to make the business official, I went to my CPA to file the appropriate paperwork, collaborated with a trusted friend who worked advertising to build my website, and invested in a professional photographer who understood the creative vision for my brand. The days leading up to my business’s public launch consisted of balancing readings with creating a vision for my brand — and as a writer who was expecting to work in Hollywood, branding and design were new territory for me!
It took about a year to officially launch Heal With Rose to the public since that day I decided to become a business owner. And now, I’ve been working full time for myself for almost four years. And the truth is: I’m still figuring things out! I’m currently launching new products, and re-shifting my brand’s aesthetic and voice.
Your business is a living, breathing entity that evolves as you evolve. And that’s the most beautiful, consistent opportunity for success.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Julia Rose, and I am a psychic-medium, tarot reader, astrologer, and intuitive healer, along with a writer and filmmaker with over a decade of experience in both spaces. By blending the ancient wisdom of Tarot, Astrology and Mediumship, I serve to help the spiritually curious heal their limiting beliefs and emotional obstacles to overcome major life transitions and manifest their best future.
In other words: I’m able to accurately predict the futures of hundreds of clients is because of their brave ability to heal through spirituality and divination.
I’ve seen and heard spirits since I was 9-years-old, the first being my ancestors. I come from a lineage of psychic-mediums on both sides of my family, and Heal With Rose is an homage to my roots– dedicated the ancestral Roses who boldly did this work before me.
My services include Tarot Readings and my famous Tarot-Astrology Hybrid Readings, which is a combination no other reader or healer provides.
I also provide the Healing Fam, a subscription-based newsletter that provides a mini Tarot reading and a breakdown the astrology for the week ahead that has hundreds of subscribers.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
An undeniably valuable service. Period. There’s no other way to say it. You could have the best marketing out there, but if your product or service is unreliable, cheap, or flawed in any way, you’ll lose trust which loses clientele.
I work in the industry of the unseen, so gaining client trust is even harder than the average line of work! You must master your craft and continue honing it in order to create and maintain a successful business. I’m constantly reading astrology, flipping Tarot cards, and meditating to elevate and refine my already mastered skills so my readings can be even more powerful, even more healing, and even more affirming for my community.
I’m honored to say that all of my clients have returned for a reading at least once. Yes, all of them. And that’s because my gifts are undeniably valuable (and I know it)!
And no: I don’t say that to be cocky. I say that with the necessary confidence earned from years of practice, training, and working hard to be of service to those I can help doing what I love. It is a responsibility I am passionate about, constantly curious about, and above all: respect. That’s what makes a undeniable valuable service (or product!).

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2022-2023, I decided to expand Heal With Rose by creating a candle line. Despite the time, money, and hard work I put into launching the candles — they weren’t as successful as I thought they would be. And to top it off, it ended up not bringing me any joy. If anything, it drained me!
I had to take the brave step of letting that product go, and I don’t regret any part of the process. I learned many lessons in that phase of Heal With Rose, but the number one lesson I learned was to understand your true intentions and maintain accurate expectations when making important business decisions, especially when they’re out of your expertise and provide outsourcing.
You must pursue something because you’re curious, you love it, and you’re eager to learn. I was maybe one out of three of those qualities, and it took pursuing that unaligned business decision from start to finish to realize my intentions and sense of reality fell short. Thanks to that business phase, I now know what I’m curious about, what I love, and what I’m eager to learn, and I understand that those qualities will build upon themselves throughout my entrepreneurial journey.
You’re going to try things that don’t work, however: they are the portal to discovering what does — and that’s priceless.
