We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Julia Laoun. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Julia below.
Alright, Julia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission in real estate is rooted in authenticity, empathy, and the unwavering belief that everyone deserves to feel supported and empowered during one of life’s most important transitions – finding a home. This mission is deeply personal. I didn’t follow a traditional path into this industry; I battled self-doubt, walked away from a “safe” career, and took a leap of faith toward what truly fulfilled me. That leap was driven by a lifelong love for architecture, design, and most importantly, people.
Growing up, I was immersed in a world where creativity met resilience. My parents, both self-made entrepreneurs, taught me the value of grit, grace, and service. Watching homes transform through my mother’s eyes as a designer sparked my passion for structural beauty, but it was witnessing how those spaces could transform people’s lives that left the biggest mark. I now carry that same feeling into every client interaction, ensuring that they feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.
Helping families achieve stability, confidence, and excitement during a home purchase isn’t just a job, it’s an emotional reward that energizes me daily. This mission is meaningful because I’ve lived the power of choosing your own path, and I want every person I serve to feel that same empowerment through their real estate journey.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have a strong passion for people, property, and purposeful design. My journey into real estate wasn’t linear, it was deeply personal. I come from a background rich in creativity and hustle: my mom is an interior designer, and my dad is a natural-born entrepreneur who built a life for our family after years of sacrifice for the “American Dream.” I was raised in a home where ambition, resilience, and compassion were daily lessons. These values became the foundation of the brand I’ve built in real estate today.
While I initially pursued a different career path after graduating from The University of Alabama with a degree in Communication & Information Sciences, I felt an undeniable pull toward real estate; a field that allowed me to combine my communication skills, my love for design, and most importantly, my desire to help others. After a lot of soul-searching, I took a leap of faith and followed my passion.
Now, I proudly serve buyers and sellers throughout Volusia and Flagler County, specializing in lifestyle-driven home purchases, relocation support, and first-time buyer education. I don’t just sell homes, I advocate for people during some of the most emotional and meaningful transitions of their lives. Whether I’m helping a young family find their forever home, guiding a retiree through downsizing, or assisting someone relocating for a fresh start, my mission is always the same: make them feel understood, protected, and empowered.
What sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to authenticity. I pride myself on transparency, empathy, and a personal approach that goes beyond the transaction. I’m known for being a “hand-holder” throughout the ownership journey and I listen deeply, I educate honestly, and I fiercely advocate for my clients’ best interests. My background in design also allows me to help clients see potential in a space, or prep their homes beautifully for the market.
In just my first year, I sold over $3 million in real estate, earned the “Rookie of the Year” award, and was honored to lead initiatives within my brokerage like community holiday events. But what I’m most proud of are the relationships I’ve built – clients who become friends, and transactions that turn into trust.
To anyone getting to know me for the first time: I want you to know that my brand is rooted in heart. I believe in showing up fully for my clients, building lasting relationships, and leading with integrity every step of the way. This isn’t just my business, it’s my calling.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that I needed to follow a traditional, “safe” career path to be successful or respected. For a long time, I carried this idea that fulfillment had to take a backseat to practicality, and that choosing a creative or passion-based career somehow lacked seriousness or structure.
After graduating from college, I pursued a more conventional job because it seemed like the responsible thing to do. But deep down, I felt disconnected. I wasn’t creatively challenged, and I didn’t feel like I was making a meaningful impact. The internal conflict grew louder every day. I found myself daydreaming about homes, design, and the idea of guiding people through life-changing milestones; the things that always brought me joy, but I had dismissed as hobbies, not career material.
The turning point came thanks to my support system. My loved ones reminded me that success isn’t defined by playing it safe, but by living with purpose. I realized that it’s okay to change your mind. In fact, sometimes it’s essential. Choosing a different path doesn’t mean you were wrong before; it means you’ve grown, and you’re finally honoring who you really are.
Now, I can confidently say that unlearning that old mindset was the best thing I’ve ever done. Real estate allows me to combine empathy, creativity, and advocacy all in one space. It’s shown me that doing what you love is the definition of success, and that fulfillment is just as important as achievement.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Without a doubt, my reputation has been built on consistency, authenticity, and how deeply I care for my clients. From day one, I made it my mission to treat every client interaction with the same energy, respect, and attention, whether it was a starter condo or a luxury listing. I approach each transaction with heart, transparency, and a level of detail that people can feel!
I think what really sets me apart, and what’s helped build trust in my market, is that I don’t view real estate as a sales job. I view it as a relationship business. I take time to truly understand my clients’ lives, not just their budgets or square footage needs. I walk them through every step, advocate fiercely for their interests, and make sure they feel educated and supported. That hand-holding, that emotional investment, it makes a difference, and it’s why so many of my clients become friends, and why referrals have been such a big part of my growth.
Also, showing up fully has mattered. I don’t just show up when there’s a contract to be signed. I show up at sunrise showings, I bring my clients gifts on moving day, I cheer for them when they close. I think people remember that. They feel it and it spreads.
Finally, being involved in the community and having a strong mentor gave me a sense of grounding early on. My presence in events, leadership programs, and even things like holiday parades gave me visibility; but, it was the genuine, ongoing care for people that built my name. I genuinely love doing it. Acts of service fills my cup. Being able to make people feel cared for during a major life transition is what fuels me, and I think that energy is what people remember most.
At the end of the day, my brand is built on care, consistency, and connection; and I think that’s what’s helped my reputation grow authentically in my market.
