Hi Julia , thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?

I am currently managing my own social media. I have apps that help me create content and stay on top of it at the moment. One day I would love to delegate that part to someone that does it full time so that I can focus on other business related things.

I’ve grown my brand organically and it took time but I now get most of my work from it. So all that planning and hard work pays off.

Utilize all the tools and tips that are there for you and see what works best. Do not give up when things get challenging. I promise with time you will see thing working in your favor.

Julia , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am a licensed cosmetologist. Been in the beauty industry since 2005. I love all hair things but my specialty is in bridal/Event hair, haircuts, and extensions. I went into running my own business in 2019 and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. I strive to personalize each style to bring out the beauty in all my guests. I love creating healthy hair regimens for my guests. This year 2023 I’ve been published in two magazines. Which is so humbling and amazing accomplishments of mine.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

The way I built my audience on social media was very organic. It started out with friends, then lead to vendors to clients. The best tool for me is using insight to see the demographics of my area and target those more. I have a love hate relationship with hashtags but I believe if you use the right ones they will generate more exposure to new audiences.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

When times are rough and questions arise, I try to speak positively and push through it. Having a great support system is also very crucial.

Starting a business from scratch is so exciting but when there are bumps you just have to persevere.
