One defining moment in my life was when I embarked on my journey as Spiritual Healer, Reiki Master, and Integrative Practitioner. This moment began with my first client, which happened to be myself. It was a powerful decision to prioritize self-love and personal growth, showing up for myself and working on my own well-being. This act of self-care set the foundation for my future success and helped me understand the importance of self-love as the starting point for any healing or transformational work. This moment marked a turning point in my life, where I realized that by loving and taking care of myself first, I could then extend that love and healing to others. It was a profound realization that shaped the way I approach my work and the way I impact the lives of those around me..

My name is Julia Jovone, and I am a Emmy Award makeup Artist who has had the incredible honor of being the first Black person to win an Emmy in the makeup category with my talented team at ABC’s “One Life to Live.”

Growing up on the West Side of Chicago, I discovered my passion for makeup while playing with my mother’s Avon products. Little did I know that those moments of exploration would shape my future career. After moving to New York City in 2004, I embarked on a journey to pursue my dream and apply the valuable lessons I learned in the Big Apple.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working on a diverse range of projects, from TV and film to editorial shoots and working with A-list clients. After winning the Emmy for makeup artistry, I was on cloud nine and felt like I was on top of the world. However, shortly after, I experienced a few setbacks that made me question my abilities and my place in the industry.

I had always prided myself on being innovative and pushing boundaries, but suddenly it seemed like my ideas were not being recognized or valued. It was a challenging time, and I felt lost and discouraged. But instead of giving up, I decided to use this setback as an opportunity for growth and self-reflection.

I took a step back and reevaluated my approach. I realized that sometimes in the pursuit of recognition, I had lost sight of what truly mattered to me – creating meaningful connections with my clients and using my skills to uplift and empower others. I decided to refocus my energy on providing an exceptional experience for my clients, rather than seeking external validation.
