We were lucky to catch up with Julia Farhat recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Julia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I graduated in 2023 with my bachelor’s in marketing from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. In the job hunting process, I was also helping a local childcare center with its social media strategy and consistently posting high-quality and engaging content to showcase its brand. After working for a small marketing consultant firm and sports agency, I discovered my true passion lies in supporting and helping local businesses thrive. I wanted to help take the stress off business owners with a lot on their plate—providing them with the proper tools and materials to make their socials look how THEY want. There used to be a severely underrated Mexican spot near my house and every time I would go, they were booming with orders and as a consumer, it brought me happiness to see them grow. I found out months later, that they permanently shut down. I examined their social platforms and noticed they haven’t posted in over a year and when asking locals about them, nobody knew who I was referring to.
This further proved my theory on the power of Social Media. They have amazing items, and such potential to grow but didn’t have the tools or knowledge to obtain the recognition they rightfully deserved. That’s why I created Social Bloom.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi everyone! My name is Julia Farhat. From being a cake decorator in downtown Detroit to managing a few start-up businesses at home, I found all my passions collide in the world of social media.
I’ve always enjoyed dabbling with my creative side, art, and trying new things. I wanted to find a way to help local businesses get the awareness they deserve with high-quality content -UGC- and watch their brands flourish!
I began doing some research and following others in the industry to familiarize myself with the terms, process, and ways of operation and took the courageous step to establish my LLC in July 2023. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but I always enjoyed working independently as I had started my different small businesses in the past starting at the shy age of 11. My childhood best friend and I had the idea to craft and sell duct tape wallets and pens at school! From there I began a baking venture, then a glassware business. It has been a long and creative journey, all of which led me here.
My primary goal in creating Social Bloom was to take the stress of social media management off the shoulders of business owners. I help those who lack the time to manage their accounts by delivering consistent, high-quality content that authentically reflects their brand. Additionally, I offer 1:1 consultations for those who are unsure where to begin, guiding them on how to effectively share on social media to build awareness and provide value to their audience.
Last year, I dedicated months to perfecting my content creation package designed specifically for business owners who don’t need full social media management but feel overwhelmed by the process of capturing fresh content to showcase their services or products. This package gives you a ready-to-go batch of high-quality, edited content that you can post whenever you need. Say goodbye to the stress of finding the perfect angles, mastering the lighting, or planning your content—because we handle it all for you, from start to finish!
I recently began offering Brand Development, as a client contacted me with a business idea a few months ago but had no idea where to start or how to execute this vision. We discussed branding kits, fonts, tone, mission statement, and social media presence. From there we began content planning, and discussing specific pillars to organize our thoughts and posting process. Two months later, her page was developed and a business that was merely an idea was brought to reality. This furthered my motivation and drive in collaborating with local business owners to see their success making me feel fulfilled and inspired to continue creating meaningful partnerships.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
During my senior year of high school, I decided to pursue a business degree in college. Along the way, I became increasingly aware of the stigma surrounding business majors—often dismissed as the ‘easy way out.’ This perception began to weigh on my mental health, as many people, including professionals, undervalued my education and career choice. Despite this, I committed to following my passion and building a life that made me happy.
After graduating, I planned to land a full-time corporate job. Unfortunately, life had other plans. I struggled to understand why others in my field were given opportunities while I faced constant rejection. After submitting 142 job applications, receiving 37 rejection emails, going through 12 interviews, and even falling for one pyramid scheme, I decided to take matters into my own hands and carve out my own career path.
Throughout this journey, I discovered how much I enjoy working independently. Owning my own business has been incredibly rewarding—not only do I have the flexibility to work on my own terms, but it’s also given me an outlet to channel my creativity and passion in meaningful ways. Most importantly, it allows me to help others grow their businesses while building something of my own when no one else gave me the opportunity.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Early in my career, I focused on client work and completely neglected my business page, as ironic as it may sound. Growth was stagnant, interactions and insights were always low and I realized ‘How would people work with me if they don’t even know who I am?’ So one day, I posted a Day in the Life, to showcase how my everyday looks which other social media managers and creatives found interesting and noticed that’s what I was missing. I began to treat my account like a client’s and created a new strategy and content calendar to keep me in line with a consistent posting schedule. In the next few months, I began identifying my audience’s pain points to use as focus points in the creation of future material.
People wanted to see the face behind Social Bloom. If you compared my account to others in the same industry, what would make mine any different? What would make them want to schedule a discovery meeting or possibly work with me? I began showcasing my personality in different ways- posting on my story more often, sharing talking reels, and other ways that show who Julia is.
I feel like many times people tend to overlook the main purpose of social media, and that’s to be SOCIAL. If you are simply posting static posts all the time, with no touch of personality or anything about you or your experiences, why would anyone follow or engage with you? Sharing your background, your knowledge, and your personality is what makes your audience interested in you, and through this, you can build a strong social media presence.
