We recently connected with Julia Bellary & Sasa Li and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Julia & Sasa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
The goal for our podcast is to take a transparent approach to beauty, challenging superficial notions and redefining what it means to be an active participant in the ever-evolving beauty community.
This isn’t a podcast about the latest product launches and skincare finds—it’s about discovering how beauty shapes and is shaped by self-awareness and societal trends. Along the way, they’ll welcome incredible guests from the worlds of finance, hospitality, social influence, and of course beauty, sharing diverse perspectives on the beauty industry. Together, they’ll unpack the latest fads, bust myths, and share insider insights, all while celebrating how skincare connects us. Let’s glow together!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When we first met, we quickly realized how overwhelming the beauty industry can be. There’s so much information out there on social media, but it’s hard to know what’s truly important and what actually works. Our goal is to cut through the noise and have engaging, real conversations about the beauty topics people care about and want to hear more of beyond just the trends and the clutter.
Our journey into the beauty world stems from personal and professional experiences. Julia brings years of expertise as an marketing professional in the tech and skincare industry, while Sasa is a beauty enthusiast with a knack for uncovering the cultural and societal narratives that shape our perceptions of beauty. We’ve both encountered a mix of helpful and misleading information in the industry, and we felt there was a need for a space where beauty meets education, honesty, and humor. GlowJob was born from that vision.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
We met at esthetician school on our very first day of class. We were both waitlisted and vying for the same spot—side-eyeing each other like, “Who’s getting in, and who’s getting left behind?” Luckily, we both made it in and after spending more time with one another, we became fast friends outside the classroom.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Our favorite part about starting this journey has been the online community we’ve created. We consider it less of an “audience” where we’re talking “to” people but a conversation we are trying to have “with” people. While we are still building our community we do have a few tips for those just getting started.
1) Stay consistent: set a goal for yourself for how often you plan to post and commit to your schedule.
2) Just post it: avoid analysis paralysis at all cost and just click the upload button. You’ll be surprised with what might go viral!
3) Don’t be afraid to reach out first: make the first move by giving some one a follow, a like, or a kind comment.
