Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jules Ramirez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jules thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Writing and recording “Latigo Beach” for Bommy Tahama while finishing my solo album, “V.C.R. (Very Cool Record),” was a deeply meaningful time for me. I was adjusting to living on my own for the first time while navigating a really dark period. I transformed the apartment into a recording studio and it became a creative headquarters. I had 3 guitar amplifiers set up, but no kitchen table. I’m proud that, even though I was going through a lot, I channeled that energy into two beautiful bodies of work, which I see as a gift for enduring that turbulent phase—fueled by a lot of espresso and cannabis sativa.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m most proud of the work I’ve been doing with Bommy Tahama and my newest solo stuff. Bommy just released “Vermillion Sun” in July 2024 and my newest single “Undercover” dropped in August 2024. Both acts are in the process of writing and recording new LPs. Once we expand our discography a bit more, we can pivot to introducing the live side of these projects – which I think will help us reach a bigger fanbase.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Ultimately, I want to establish a reputation that showcases my diverse skill set. Everything happening now is only the beginning. My goal is to not only be recognized as an artist, but also as the versatile producer that I am. I’m eager to continue to grow in varied roles and contribute in meaningful ways across different creative platforms.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect for me is having something to show for all the work. I grew up listening to albums, so there’s nothing better than looking at my discography and seeing all the artwork attached to the songs I wrote or contributed to. Now that I have a small creative team involved, it feels like a collective statement. We are dedicated to every detail, and our output is truly unique. You’ll definitely discover some gems in my solo work, Shadesails’ solo projects, and our joint project, Bommy Tahama.
