We were lucky to catch up with Jules Basset recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jules , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
Yes, at Baj’entreprends, we prioritize a personalized, hands-on approach to each client’s needs. Unlike standard consulting practices that often apply generic frameworks, we co-create solutions with our clients based on their unique context. Our focus is on actionable insights, iterative testing, and close collaboration throughout the process. We do not limit our services to specific industries or regions; we are ready to extend our activities worldwide to address specific needs. For example, we recently supported a client seeking to expand into Saudi Arabia, where we had no prior activities. This project required us to develop a local network and establish an on-the-ground presence to identify the best options for our client. Additionally, we dedicate time to conducting an analysis of our clients’ situations to identify the true challenges they face, which are sometimes different from the initial assumptions.
Our consulting approach goes beyond delivering strategic recommendations. We believe that true impact lies in the ability to translate analysis into actionable steps. That’s why we stay actively involved during the implementation phase, assisting clients with the practical execution of strategies. This includes identifying key resources, coordinating teams, and ensuring that each action aligns with the project’s objectives.
As the implementation unfolds, we can provide ongoing support by tracking progress, measuring key performance indicators, and identifying potential obstacles. This follow-up is optional and adaptable, depending on the specific needs of each client. Our flexible and coherent service structure allows us to respond effectively to the evolving challenges of organizations and entrepreneurs. When necessary, we suggest pivots or innovative solutions to maintain alignment with the original goals.
We adapt our services to the size and nature of each business we work with. We have experience collaborating with large, well-established companies seeking to expand internationally, as well as with young entrepreneurs just starting out. In the latter case, we can provide tailored training programs to help build essential skills, develop their business acumen, and give them the tools to successfully implement and sustain their projects.
Furthermore, we place a strong emphasis on complete transparency throughout our projects. From initial planning to final evaluation, our clients are kept informed of every step and decision made. We believe in building trust through open communication and providing clear, honest insights about the progress and challenges encountered. Above all, we focus on the human aspect behind every project, recognizing that genuine relationships and understanding are the cornerstones of sustainable success.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jules Basset, and I am the founder of Baj’entreprends, an entrepreneurial consulting firm based in Montreal, Canada. My journey into this industry stems from a deep passion for entrepreneurship and a strong belief in the transformative power of innovative, collaborative and sustainable business practices. Having grown up in France, pursued my studies in the United States and Canada, and built my professional career in Canada, I’ve had the privilege of being immersed in diverse and dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystems, each enriching my perspective.
I hold a degree from HEC Montreal and have had the opportunity to contribute to several startup ventures across diverse sectors, including electric vehicles, real estate, event organization, and business development. I also had the privilege of presiding over the entrepreneurial club at HEC Montréal, the largest student-run entrepreneurship club in Quebec. Through these experiences, I’ve gained valuable insights into the challenges entrepreneurs encounter and the importance of creative, strategic thinking to navigate them.
Baj’entreprends provides strategic consulting, training, and support to businesses and entrepreneurs seeking growth and innovation. We work with companies of all sizes, from established corporations aiming for international expansion to early-stage startups navigating their first milestones. Our core mission is to help our clients identify opportunities, address challenges, and implement practical, sustainable solutions.
What sets us apart is our commitment to delivering personalized, adaptable, and comprehensive support. We’ve built our business model with the flexibility to accompany clients through every stage of their growth journey. From the initial problem exploration and strategic ideation to implementation, follow-up, and impact analysis, we remain closely involved to ensure long-term success.
Our consulting services extend beyond borders and industries. We have experience in diverse sectors and are always ready to develop customized approaches to match our clients’ specific needs.
We believe in the power of continuous learning and growth. As a result, we offer training programs to equip teams with the entrepreneurial skills they need to execute and maintain new strategies effectively.
Transparency, collaboration, and a human-centric approach are the cornerstones of our work. We view every project as a partnership, where success stems from mutual trust and shared objectives. Our goal is not just to solve immediate challenges but to empower businesses to innovate, adapt, and thrive in an ever-changing landscape.

Any advice for managing a team?
When it comes to managing a team and maintaining high morale, I believe it starts with truly understanding the people you work with. I’ve always made it a priority to get to know my team members well and to create opportunities for them to know themselves and each other better. Tools like personality tests, workshops, and open discussions help us uncover individual strengths, motivations, and working styles. I want people to wake up each morning with clarity about why they do what they do and to feel genuine happiness in doing it. In entrepreneurship, we often talk about the importance of a personal ‘Why’ — that core motivation that keeps us going, even in challenging times. Helping my team connect with their ‘Why’ is essential to maintaining long-term motivation.
Beyond understanding motivations, I believe in fostering a culture of intrapreneurship. I strive to build structures where every team member feels empowered to innovate, suggest ideas, and actively contribute to the company’s growth. Innovation shouldn’t be limited to leadership; great ideas can come from anywhere. By providing the necessary tools and a safe space for creativity, we break down barriers to progress and foster continuous improvement. People are happier when they feel heard, valued, and when they see their ideas being implemented.
Another key element is cultivating a positive relationship with failure. In our team, we celebrate successes, of course, but we also celebrate and learn from failures. I encourage a mindset where mistakes are seen as opportunities for growth rather than reasons for reprimand. Without a willingness to fail, there can be no innovation or success. The goal is to create a feedback-rich environment where we pivot, adjust, and continuously improve based on what we learn.
When building my team, I place less emphasis on formal qualifications and more on the person in front of me. Values, mindset, and vision alignment are far more telling of someone’s potential to thrive in our environment than a degree or a polished CV. We work hard to ensure we share a common vision and that each person understands how their role contributes to the larger mission.
Flexibility in management is another principle I strongly adhere to. People have different needs when it comes to structure and autonomy. Some individuals need clear guidelines, regular check-ins, and stable schedules to perform at their best, while others thrive when given a problem to solve and the freedom to find solutions in their own way. My approach is to adapt management styles accordingly, focusing not on rigid processes but on delivering quality work while keeping collaborators happy and motivated.
Diversity also plays a crucial role in team morale. A mix of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences sparks creativity and prevents stagnation. Additionally, maintaining a positive, collaborative atmosphere requires moments that go beyond work. Team-building activities, informal gatherings, and shared experiences help strengthen bonds and foster a sense of belonging.
Finally, I believe in providing opportunities for growth. When someone shows a desire to learn and is willing to put in the effort, it’s essential to support their development. Whether through training, new responsibilities, or mentorship, giving people the chance to grow within the organization keeps morale high and motivation strong. A work environment built on trust, authenticity, and shared success, with fewer rigid obligations and more opportunities for contribution, tends to yield not only better results but also happier, more engaged teams.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
When it comes to acquiring new clients, despite being a relatively young and small structure, we’ve experienced significant growth over the past two years. We’ve had the privilege of developing a client base not only in Canada but also internationally, with clients in France, Cameroun, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia. Remarkably, this growth has been driven by a single method: referrals and word-of-mouth.
To date, we haven’t needed to engage in direct outreach or cold prospecting. Instead, we’ve focused on giving 100% to every project we take on, ensuring our clients are highly satisfied with the results. This dedication has led them to recommend us to others, which has become our most reliable source of new business.
Additionally, during our various missions, we’ve had the opportunity to connect with numerous stakeholders through client introductions, networking events, and industry conferences. These interactions have allowed companies to witness our work firsthand, often leading to follow-up inquiries and new collaborations.
For now, our commitment to authenticity, transparency, and high-quality work has been the cornerstone of our growth. We believe that working hard and delivering great results consistently creates a natural momentum, where satisfied clients become our best advocates.
This approach is all the more aligned with our core values at Baj’entreprends, where we prioritize staying human-centered in everything we do.
