We were lucky to catch up with Julani Austin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Julani, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Maybe my earliest works was the most meaningful because that’s when I was probably learning the most although most of that stuff isn’t going to come to light, (what I’m talking about right now is music) but yeah I don’t; I don’t necessarily think I can say there is certain projects that are more meaningful though like holistically just because you know they all have equal value. There is different lessons attached to the different projects.

Julani, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Julani Austin I’m an artist creative currently living in Atlanta Georgia. I’m from Huntsville Alabama, right now I’m attacking two different things which is music and also clothing or design. I just; I just got my first a few sample pieces within the last couple of months so I’m looking to really like learn how to scale a business and you know get these pieces to the masses, but yeah I’m doing that and also at the same time I am working on music. My project is coming out pretty soon so you know just trying to balance things. I just left my job, so I’m really trying to lean on the clothes to provide some sort of;
Not even, I have to lean on God but I’m trynna use my clothes to Carry me financially, so yeah that’s what I’m on for real.
I don’t know what problems I’m solving maybe, oh OK I can see a problem I’m solving which is truth in a industry, full of lies full of fallacy; truth and being guided by the Holy Spirit, so yeah, I hope that answers your question, I’m doing this on my voice mic btw hahaha (typed out hahaha)
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I’m watching this anime right now it’s called Hunter X Hunter, I think society should set up on hunter exams for creatives. Basically, it’s these characters who are seeking out to be hunters and in order to do so they go through this examination process a lot of the times they’re not even aware that they’re taking the test, and then sometimes they are but through this process it allows the best of the best to make it through a door to become a hunter. I think they should have the same things for creatives. I’m specifically thinking about rappers right now or musicians, because I am an artist Also, I think there should be more creative grants set up and I don’t mean 100 $500 although I would take that I’m talking about 10,000 and 20,000 50,000 I don’t think they should be hard to fine. I think they should be accessible for all the creators and I know that can be hard to judge just because it’s like OK well who do we divvy out this money to but yeah, the hunter exams you know, whoever is the best.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
