Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to JuJu Lee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
JuJu, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk about keeping costs under control when growing. How have you managed to keep costs from getting out of control?
One thing I’ve learned in business is keep cost low and profits high. This helps when the inventory that you’re investing in, is going to bring you the success you’re heading towards. But there’s a thin line between investing in products and spending too much, especially when you’re a product based business. If I had to give any advice when it comes to spending money, it would be to test your product out first. Do you research and be sure of your target audience. When you know which product is making money, scale up.
JuJu, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve started my business almost four years ago, starting out with custom designs. Shortly after, I ventured off into athleisure wear for men and women. Earlier this year, I did a collaboration collection with SHEIN that did very well. I just released a small capsule F/W collection this year that just released in October.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I had to start my business off small. I started off with ten pieces that I designed myself. After, I saw what people were gravitating towards; I started the expansion process. Funding has been one of my most difficult challenges, but I think that it has taught me how to make the most of my money and what to focus on the most.
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
I think one of the greatest things I’ve learned in my journey of entrepreneurship is do the work and the opportunity will follow. Most of my wholesale deals and collaboration has been because of being out here on the field. While doing markets and pop up shop, I found people that wanted to help in bringing my business to the next level. Sometime we force progress so much, I do believe you have to be assertive in selling and business. I also know that with great products opportunities will fall into your lap if you keep going.
