We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jui Talukder. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jui below.
Jui, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned to draw and create art through years of dedicated practice and exploration. Initially, I focused on hyper-realistic portraits based on photos, which helped me develop my sense of proportion and attention to detail. However, I felt limited by simply replicating images and yearned to create from my imagination.
To overcome this, I delved into understanding the fundamentals of color and form, which unlocked my creative potential. I became more intentional about my creative process, experimenting and pushing boundaries. In hindsight, I wish I had focused on learning these fundamentals earlier, as it would have accelerated my growth.
The most essential skills I developed were 3D thinking, observation, and cultivating a curious mindset. I also made it a habit to write down my thoughts and ideas, which helped me overcome artist’s block and tap into my creative reservoir.
If I could speed up my learning process, I would have started learning the fundamentals of art and design earlier, been more consistent in my practice, and taken more risks in exploring different mediums and styles. Obstacles like self-doubt, fear of failure, and perfectionism sometimes held me back, but I’ve learned to embrace challenges and view them as opportunities for growth.
Jui, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

With attention to detail and a commitment to creative expression, I strive to create illustrations that connect with others and spark imagination.
Potential clients should know that I’m passionate about storytelling through illustration. I’m dedicated to understanding their needs and goals, and creating images that capture their vision through my unique style.
I listen carefully, push creative boundaries, and aim to exceed expectations. My goal is to create illustrations that spark a lasting connection with viewers.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I’ve come to realize that just because I want something doesn’t mean it’s the right thing for me, and sometimes my motivations are misguided.
I am actually still unlearning the lesson of being overly ambitious and driven to the point of sacrificing my well-being. When I want something, I can become obsessed and lose sight of my own needs. But I’ve learned that the universe has a way of redirecting me towards what’s truly best for me, even if it’s not what I originally wanted. In many events in my life, I have gone after things that are jarringly wrong for me, but somehow, life always has found a way to redirect me to where I belong.
I’m learning to embrace my own journey and trust that I’m exactly where I need to be. I’ve learned to recognize the signs of my own obsession and take a step back to reassess my priorities.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is that it allows me to stay connected to my inner child and see the world with a sense of wonder. Creating art gives me a unique lens to view life, and I find myself constantly seeking out stories and inspiration in every experience. It brings a deep sense of meaning and purpose to my life, and I cherish the fact that my art has been a constant companion throughout various phases of my journey. It’s a part of me that no one can take away, and that’s incredibly empowering.
Creative expression helps me process my emotions and make sense of the world around me. I love how art allows me to connect with others on a deeper level and share my perspective. I use my art to communicate and would feel stifled and silenced without it..
