We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Judy Taylor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Judy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I have completed many public art projects and also three portraits for John’s Hopkins School of Medicine. All of these tested the boundaries of my skills, problem solving, creative approach and looking to find a singularly unique approach that would bring heart, narrative and resolution to each distinctive commission.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most important thing is to never stop learning and challenging myself. It is a life long dedication to improve and stay curious. I emphasize this in my teaching and lectures.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
If you aren’t going to be an artist, be an art appreciator. Fill your life with music, theater, dance, literature, poetry, the trades., the visual arts. Pay it forward.
