We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Judy Jellison. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Judy below.
Hi Judy, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I guess I have always been a bit of a rebel, but when it was time to begin to make my own living and pay my own bills, back in the late 60’s and early 70’s, I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to go about it in less than a traditional way. Yet, one day at 20 years old, in a very non traditional way, I was walking along and saw a flyer about a yoga teacher training course in the Bahamas. I had no clue what yoga was (in fact, not many people in the US knew about yoga in those days). But I intuitively knew that I was to be in that class. I somehow found the money for the airfare, talked to the school about allowing me to make payments, and off I went. (not listening to discouraging opinions of others). Once I was there, I knew I had made the perfect decision for myself. I ended up teaching yoga for almost 10 years, after convincing gym owners, spa’s, and self care establishments to give it a try.. Totally a risk that paid off.
After stepping out of the holistic/alternative field for about 15 years to marry and raise a family (which was pretty risky for me to be doing … lol), yet coming out with 2 beautiful daughters, I was again in a position of how do I make a living and support myself.
Late 90’s, again walking along, finding a flyer about a Reiki master/teacher training course, I knew i was to be there. At the time, I had no clue what Reiki was, yet was again listening to that still small voice within. At that time, there were less than 100 trained Reiki Masters. I took another risk and went through my first Reiki master training, eventually starting my own business working in the energy work healing field and later teaching different modalities of energy work to students.
While building my cliental for Reiki, I bought a newly established franchise which was promoting a new way of doing inch loss body wraps. Very new in the late 90’s, I struggled a bit to find open minded clients who believed they could lose weight doing body wraps. But eventually finding the. clients, I was able to establish a very profitable business. Along with the inch loss wraps, I focused on guiding clients in detox and moving into a more holistic, alternative nutritional way of taking care of the body.
For years now i have been on the leading edge of bringing and introducing new ways of alternative healing to society. I am very happy that they have made their way to America and are becoming so popular.
With this, I have learned to listen to my inner knowing, realize that for me that means taking a risk. And even today, I am out finding the next new wonderful and helpful way to help people to better themselves.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
After the bit of history as to how I took risks in discovering my passions in life, I knew this was the area I was gifted in and passionate about, What I saw work for myself and others was the use of many modalities done in a holistic and alternative manner in order to discover their true self. Today, my work has evolved into coaching my clients on a journey of finding out who they are, understanding and accepting themselves, truly learning to like who they are, discovering their gifts and talents, thus letting go of what may be holding them back from moving forward with clarity, love, joy, and true satisfaction in their life.
Through the services I offer my clients, what sets my work apart from others is my intense study of energy and how we use it in our lives. I bring different modalities of energy work together with coaching, and guiding my clients on an inward journey to communicate with and discover their inner knowing, (intuition, higher self… whatever you choose to call it),.
I also use Meditations, Sound therapy, Reiki, Trapped Emotions, and many other forms of energy work in my work with my client.
My work is now expanding out to working with groups of all kinds. I am finding much joy in working with businesses who are looking for ways to bring more joy, peace, calm, productivity, creativity, self discovery and more to their employees. An example of this is ‘Wellness Wednesday, where i take them and lead them within….finding inner peace and new clarity in whatever the subject may be.
I also serve group meet ups and classes through Zoom as I take them on inner journeys, meditations, and always add some calming, healing energy work with all sessions and classes I do.
My joy is that I found what I am truly passionate about in life. The best part: it is something that I love and to be able to share it and serve my clients and to witness them grow and evolve brings me much satisfaction. My work is done on phone or Zoom, which has opened me up to having clients all over the world. My clients love the remote work, as it is so nice to be able to be to stay in the convenience of your own home or office.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back, I would definitely choose the same type of work that I am doing now. I am good at it, I love it, and the more I learn about it, the more there is to learn. That keeps it fun for me, therefore making it even better for all my clients. Because it is work that I love so much, getting new clients is fairly easy. I get a lot of referrals plus the right client for me seem to come in to my life more so than not. I am a big believer in astrology, have studied it in depth, and understand how deep it goes into our lives. You can look at it like it is the blue print that you came in with this lifetime, and then you choose what to do with that blueprint. Now that I know more about my blueprint, I understand why I have always been attracted to service orientated work with the intention of guiding and helping others. I truly can not imagine myself during any other type of work.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
For myself, and I believe for other people, other than training and knowledge, the most beneficial and helpful thing you can do to succeed in your field, is to enjoy your work, and believe in yourself. Sometimes it takes time to build confidence in your work, but if you can just believe in yourself, trust each stage of the process, and know that you are constantly succeeding as long as you are moving forward. Keep learning, keep practicing/doing whatever your work is, and keep the faith!
