We were lucky to catch up with Jude Amsel recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jude, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The New York City Fire Museum contains the first permanent memorial to the 343 members of the FDNY who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 which I designed. The heroes of 9/11 are included on a black marble and ceramic memorial with photographic images of the firefighters lost in the attacks.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
— Jude Amsel
I come from a family of artists As a printmaker I specialize in creating artwork through various printmaking techniques on various surfaces. My passion is teaching globally. Wearing many hats in the art world I am also a gallery director/curator in New York at the Gold Coast Arts Center in Great Neck NY & Haven Palm Beach Gallery in Florida. My artwork is represented in museums, public spaces, and in notable private collections, and has been exhibited in galleries internationally.
I was very honored to be the recipient of the New York Artist of Distinction award. This award is bestowed to the individual artist whose work in the field of the arts has been outstanding and deserving of recognition. Past recipients have included Francis Ford Coppola and James Rosenquist.
I reside in NY and Florida When I first moved to Long Island City, Ny in 2009 I would frequently visited 5Pointz, graffiti Mecca the largest legal aerosol art site of its kind. I eventually started working with many of the artist which I now represent and exhibit their work. While my work was exhibited and noticed in Palm Beach I was approached by the owner of Haven Palm Beach and asked if I would be interested in being the gallery director which I was happy to accept!
I also am involved in the arts on Shelter Island, NY where I teach and exhibit.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I thrive on creating spaces where meaningful connections can be made, so I’m passionate about hosting events that foster strong networking opportunities
I’m always excited to curate environments where meaningful collaborations can emerge building connections between people.
