Juanita, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

When coming up with a business name , I feel like the business name should be very meaningful. So when you’re asked about how did you come up with it , you will be able to explain it because it’s apart of something meaningful in your life . When I first started my business in 2016 it was hard for me to come up with a name . I had to sleep on it for a couple of days . Then one day , it hit my mind . It was once called Love and Loyalty Fashion & Designs . Back in 2016 I was always seeking for just someone to love me and give me their loyalty. So I incorporated it into my business name because Fashion and designing was my work . Today my business is called Divine Luxurious Custom Designs. My ideas , strength, passion , knowledge & so much more comes from the Divine Creator which is God so he gets the Glory out of all my work because . Today I am now a graphic designer and help others brand their business. I have a passion of helping others with their businesses.

Juanita, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

When I was a child I was always very creative & I always sold everything I made . Such as jewelry, perfume, flower baskets & lip gloss . I never thought about owning my own business until I became a Mother at 16 years old . I just knew it was always in me since I was a little girl . I felt like being 16 with a child owning my own business would be great because I could always tend to my daughter and make my own schedule. I did all of my research that was needed to start my own business & it went from there . I wanted my business to be different and stand out . Before I became consistent with what I was going well , I started my own beauty care line making my own hand creams , lip scrubs , hand scrubs , bath bombs . It probably could have succeeded really good but I wasn’t receiving the support I thought I would get . So then I started to sell my own lip gloss and eye lashes . I then started a cycle of trying different things , because I thought my support would come from family and friends the ones you kind of expect to support your dream . 2018 I made a huge change because I realized my support was going to come from strangers . So then I started to make t-shirts , tutus & etc . That’s when my sales grew . In 2019 I expanded my services into a graphic designing business . I was very consistent & determined that my business would eventually blow up because of God .

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

As a business owner, I had to unlearn & realize your support/customers doesn’t come from family & friends . I believe 50% of people has stopped their dreams because of the support of people. I believe that you are your own cheerleader , you have to be determined , confident & consistent in order to birth what’s on the inside of you . You have to promote your own business until you see a change in sells and not look for others to always share your work . Once you become confident in what you own then I promise the sales will eventually flow in and you won’t be able to stop it . Once I unlearned a lot of things I felt very motivated and confident & that’s when I saw a change in my business. As I look back from where I started from I thank God for the growth of unlearning and relearning each and everyday .

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

Growing your clientele can be difficult when you don’t know where to start . I was able to learn from a lot of business owner groups that are on Facebook. Where entrepreneurs comes together and ask questions, promote & etc . I’ve learned to grow my clientele on social media by looking for my target market . Those who are interested in what I have to offer & my local clientele comes from me handing out flyers , business cards & wearing my brand on t-shirts .
