Juan Vega, appreciate you joining us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
Juan- Yes absolutely! Being a business owner has brought a lot of happiness into my life. The feeling of being able to help many people and the sense of accomplishment that comes with running my own business is unparalleled. I have found a deep satisfaction in paving my own lane, making decisions that directly impact the success of my business, and witnessing the growth of my efforts firsthand. I don’t ever think about going back and what it would be like to just have a regular job even when you are faced with adversity and challenging times during this process. For me having a plan b and going back feels like I would be giving up on what I really want to achieve. I recognize that the regular life isn’t for me and while it might provide a sense of stability, it could never replicate the excitement, passion, and fulfillment I experience as a business owner. The ups and downs of entrepreneurship are part of the package, and they ultimately keep shaping me into a more resilient, adaptable, and creative individual.

My name is Vanessa, and I’m currently halfway through my law studies.
My roots trace back to Lebanon, a place where the traditional use of herbs in soothing teas is steeped in culture and history. Life as a law student with a full-time job can be quite a balancing act, and that’s where tea comes in. It’s my go-to for comfort and calm amidst the chaos. So, I started experimenting with herbs I adore, like the enchanting blue lotus flower and butterfly pea flower. Inspired by my cultural heritage and driven by the need for tranquility, I embarked on a journey of herb-blending.
Juan, on the other hand, is an investor and entrepreneur at heart. Driven by a determined commitment to build successful businesses that give back to the community. We both have channeled our energy into creating and operating a brand that stands for quality and purpose. Together, we form a dynamic duo with a shared purpose: to make a positive impact on people’s lives through the power of herbs using our individual skills to build a community around us.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
In today’s tough business environment, it’s really important to create and keep good connections with your customers and build strong loyalty to your brand. Standing out and making an impact on your customers requires an aggressive yet strategic approach to foster brand loyalty.
We strongly believe that the secret to success is creating great customer experiences that really stick with people. To make this happen, we have focused on being directly involved at trade shows, markets and events and creating that person to person experience with our customers. When we’re actually there in person at these events, it shows how much we care about building personal connections.
Our way of doing things is all about giving our full attention to one customer at a time and understanding their needs, preferences and pain points. We know that each time we talk to someone, it’s a chance to leave a great impression and turn them into loyal customers. We work hard to make sure each person has an amazing experience with us, one that’s so great they can’t help but tell others about it.
While in person interactions are important, our online presence is also a big part of our brand in being able to keep in touch with new and returning customers. We’re also using tools like instagram Facebook and email marketing to stay connected. Through email marketing campaigns and social media, we share insights, exclusive offers, and success stories, ensuring our customers remain engaged. We’re not just selling a product; we’re offering an experience that resonates on multiple platforms.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
We sell our products directly on our own website, RelaxationTea.com. For anyone deciding where to sell their products online, it’s crucial to consider the benefits of having and owning your own domain / website versus using platforms like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy etc. Retaining full ownership and decision making of our brand is important to us and owning our domain / website gives us full control over our brand’s identity.
While platforms like Amazon and Etsy undoubtedly provide exposure to a massive user base, recent shifts have showed the vulnerability of relying solely on these platforms. Algorithm changes, sudden policy shifts, or even account suspensions can disrupt your business overnight. As witnessed with other brands, a change in platform policies can lead to a loss of visibility and customer base, potentially jeopardizing years of hard work.
The key difference between selling on your website and using other platforms is customer relationships. Your website builds a direct line with each customer and makes them feel connected to you directly. External platforms often make customers see the platform, not your brand. If you want to own the relationship with your customers, get their email addresses and operate on your own platform.
