Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Juan Sebastian Casas Jiménez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Juan Sebastian , appreciate you joining us today. So, folks often look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight – but that often obscures all the nitty, gritty details of everything that went into the growth phase of your business. We’d love to hear about your scaling story and how you scaled up?
Since I was a kid, I always felt atracted to subjects related to art, music, concerts, cinema, TV, theater, etc.
When I finished high school, I decided to study Law (because art in my country is considered unprofitable). My parents paid for the first semester, but with my desire for independence, I looked for work to be able to pay for the university expenses.
In this way, I got a job as a logistics operator in bars for more than a year, rediscovering a bit of my original passion for music and art.
After this time, I managed to get into my first concert, starting as a bartender. After this, and thanks to a childhood friend, I managed to get involved in the technical production for mass events. Thus, I managed to climb the ladder quickly, going through multiple positions and
performing multiple tasks (plumbing, carpentry, tool handling, assembly of structures, electricity, roadie, and so on).
In less than six months I had already managed to get a job on stage, thanks to the demonstrated dedication, commitment, responsibility, leadership, and other qualities that made me stand out in the workplace.
Over time, I realized this job was my passion that required me full time, a lot of dedication and effort, so, although I managed to finish my degree successfully, I had already chosen my true profession.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Thanks to the strengthening of my country’s legislation on occupational safety issues and my knowledge in the law career; on top of that for the search for personal growth, my ability and dedication to work in risky situations, I developed a great admiration and taste for Rigging and Safe Work at Heights and decided to peruse a career on this field.
Rapidly I got to be a fundamental part of the assembly of concerts and massive events; being part of the group of those who are “the first to arrive and the last to leave”, I managed to learn the step by step. From the basics of the construction of a stage, to being able to receive an artist including the supply of the services of installation of points for anchoring motors and structures, for subsequent elevation of loads (videos, audio, lights, lasers, pyrotechnics, scenography) according to the artist requirements. I was in charge of personnel management in heights for different companies, and in different world-class events such as: Depeche Mode, Metallica, Radiohead, Rolling Stones, Megadeth,
Disturb, Smashing Pumpkins, Juanes, Rammstein, Anthrax, Aerosmith, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Cold Play, Franz Ferdinand, Cinderella, Ozzy Osbourne, Scorpions, The Killers, among others…
After more than 10 years of experiences and hard work throughout Colombia, I got to join the crew of Colombian artist and reggaeton singer Jbalvin by the end of 2018. We did a word tour with his team for more than 5 years. Currently I am part of the MSB (Mañana Sera Bonito) 2024 tour of Colombian artist Karol G.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Despite the comments and beyond the monetary difficulties that come with doing an activity that is not professional, and against all the predictions of ruin for not pursuing my law career I managed to maintain my commitment, dedication, passion, and faith in this activity that after 16 years is allowing me to live comfortably, peacefully and that satisfies me professionally, economically, socially and intellectually.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Seeing the impact of the show on people and their emotional reactions throughout it. It is very satisfying to know that despite of being “backstage”, we are part of it all and participate in the overall flow of a show. My job is to materialize the artists concept and help in the delivery to the public
