We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Juan Gollaz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Juan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
My learning experience of what I do was with trial and error and learning from mistakes like most things in life.
Not having the right guidance makes the process longer but at the same time more rewarding as you know you put the time and effort to be where you are.
In my profession, the skills that are most essential is the ability to create and have a vision of the outcome.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been a tattoo artist for the past 20 years which has given me the knowledge to give the best piece and advice to my clients for the work they gonna wear for the rest of their life.
I’m very happy to have made good relationships with people that appreciate my work as they know I’m doing my best for them to have a quality piece. When people give me full trust in my work and appreciate it, the result is good for both ends.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing about my profession is the satisfaction of knowing that someone is interested and appreciates to carry my art with them when there’s to many options out there.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
At any time on anyone’s career, you have to use whatever resource is available to you to make yourself excel better on what you do. You need to keep moving with the flow of progression.
