Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jsal. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
JSAL, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first knew I wanted to pursue my artistic path professionally when I realized the power of music in transforming my own life. After going through a personal battle of fighting breast cancer that challenged me both physically and emotionally, I turned to songwriting as a way to make sense of my experiences. What began as a therapeutic outlet quickly evolved into a passion for creating music that could inspire and connect with others. Seeing how my song “Be Invincible” resonated with listeners made me realize that this was more than just a hobby—it was my calling.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I discovered my love for music early in life, beginning with classical music education in my childhood. This foundation instilled in me the discipline and technical skills that became essential to my artistic journey. As the years passed, music evolved from being a hobby into a way of understanding and expressing the world around me.
My battle with breast cancer shifted my perspective even more profoundly. Music became a lifeline, allowing me to process my experiences and channel them into something meaningful. What began as a personal therapeutic outlet quickly grew into a passion for creating music that connects with and inspires others.
Rooted in themes of resilience, empowerment, and hope, my music draws from my personal journey and artists like Sia and Rachel Platten, whose powerful vocals and emotionally resonant lyrics influence my sound. I aim to create music that helps people find their inner strength and reminds them that no matter what life throws at them, they can overcome it. From my single “Be Invincible” to upcoming tracks like “Inner Flame,” my goal is to connect deeply with listeners, offering them hope and encouragement.
What sets me apart is my authenticity and the real-life stories that shape my work. I’m not just singing songs; I’m sharing pieces of myself—my victories, struggles, and everything in between. My brand celebrates resilience and the human spirit, and I believe my connection to my own experiences brings an emotional depth to my music that resonates with my audience.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the impact my music has had on others. Hearing from people who find strength or comfort in my songs is incredibly rewarding and reinforces why I do what I do. I want potential fans and followers to know that my work comes from a place of honesty and a deep desire to make a positive impact. Whether through performances, songwriting, or collaborations, my mission is to uplift and inspire people through music that speaks to the heart.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that I had to go through everything alone. In my early years of pursuing music, I believed that I had to be entirely self-reliant, pushing through challenges without asking for help. This mindset came from a fear of appearing weak or incapable, especially in an industry as competitive as music.
However, my battle with breast cancer taught me the power of community and vulnerability. I realized that strength doesn’t come from handling everything on my own—it comes from leaning on others when needed and allowing them to support me. That shift in perspective not only made me stronger but also deepened the connections I made through my music. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness; it’s a necessary part of resilience and growth.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the most profound moments of my journey happened inside an MRI machine. The loud beeps felt like an emergency alarm going off for what seemed like an eternity—30 minutes of overwhelming noise and uncertainty. Lying there, grappling with my thoughts, I began to hum a melody in my head to drown out the sound. That melody eventually became my song “Be Invincible.” In that moment, music was my anchor, helping me stay strong despite everything I was going through. That experience not only taught me resilience but also reaffirmed my belief in the healing power of music.
