Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to J’rai Hammonds. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, J’rai thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Everything begins in the mind. I started Get Up And GLO in my families garage in 2014. I created fitness routines and sketched out designs that developed into fitness apparel. I think it is important to protect your creations at the beginning stages to help you establish your brand identity. I always knew I had to stay true to my mission, which is waking up each day and being the BEST me. I built my business on that principle and as a result it left no room for fear and it gave me the mental capacity to make my dreams reality. I turned my thoughts into sketches and wrote all of my visions and goals down on paper and put the work in. It takes courage to launch and I am thankful that I always remain true to mission in the process.

J’rai, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
“Get Up And GLO” is a movement that I created to uplift the community to BE the best version of themselves. I started by developing strength and conditioning routines in order to keep my body in shape for dance. Dancers started reaching out to me for training sessions and I went on to become a certified fitness coach. As I suffered from various dance injuries I wanted to create a tool that would be helpful for physical therapy, at home workouts, and the gym. I launched the fabric resistance “GLO Bands” and eventually released athleisure wear “GLO Gear”. I offer virtual personal training, nutrition coaching, and I also have a fitness ebook the “30 Day GLO Up Challenge”.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media in order to connect with people from various backgrounds that are interested in health and wellness. I post content to inspire people to spend time connecting with themselves through investing into their health. I also enjoy posting dance videos and behind the scenes footage of projects that I have the pleasure of working on. I partner with companies that I value and I provide helpful links and discount codes to my audience. Social media has made a huge impact on marketing and it plays a vital role in my business.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Communication is key. I spend a lot of time building relationships with clients by talking to them daily in order to hold them accountable to reach their fitness goals. Part of my job is to keep fitness exciting and fun, so I have to build and maintain a positive rapport with my clients. I foster brand loyalty by staying true to my mission of encouraging others to BE their dreams and chase their goals.
