Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to JP Revel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
JP, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Back in the weird times Covid-y of 2020, when everyone was either baking bread or talking to their plants, I was stuck in a tiny office in Michigan, trying not to share germs with my family. I was running my first business, Lelander, with a distributed team across the US. During this time, I stumbled upon this webinar about using virtual assistants from the Philippines to get stuff done. It was like a light bulb went off, but honestly, it was more like one of those energy-saving ones that slowly gets brighter. During my visit to the Philippines, I was struck by the resilient and indomitable spirit of the people, even while sometimes in the face of difficulties.
So, I dove headfirst into learning all I could about the Philippines. It’s like when you start a home project, and next thing you know, you’re knee-deep in YouTube tutorials and trips to the hardware store. Except, my project was figuring out how to work with a virtual assistant. That’s how I met Mytch Plete. She’s a rockstar. Working with her showed me the ropes, and pretty soon, I was moving parts of my other business over there.
In 2022, I took a trip with a buddy to the Philippines. Meeting our team face-to-face was a game changer. It’s like when you’ve only seen someone in photos, and then you meet them, and they’re so much taller than you thought – except in this version, I’m the one that’s taller. The Philippines was full of surprises – amazing people, stunning places, but also a lot of folks in need.
That’s where MajorMajor comes in. We’re all about taking those marketing tasks that everyone loves to hate off their plates. Think of us as that friend who says they’ll help you move and actually shows up. We’ve got the strategy smarts from the US and the get-it-done grit from the Philippines. We’re not just about saving time; it’s more like we’re on a mission to make a difference, one task at a time.
Running two businesses might sound like trying to juggle while riding a bike, but thanks to my stellar team back at Lelander, I can manage without dropping anything… yet.
So, why am I doing all this? It ties back to everything I’m about. Entrepreneurs are my tribe, creativity in marketing lights my fire, and after getting to know the Philippines, I feel like it’s part of my life’s work to give back. Plus, if I can make someone’s day a bit brighter or easier, then it’s all worth it.
As they say in the Midwest, if you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes. Well, with MajorMajor, if you don’t like doing your marketing tasks, just send them our way—no waiting required. Instead it’s about building something meaningful, helping where we can, and having a few laughs along the way.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We like making memorable moments that stick. That’s why we surprise our clients with Salamat Cookies after we get going. If you haven’t tried them, you’re missing out—they’re not just cookies; they’re little bites of joy with Filipino flair. Why do we do it? Because it’s unexpected, has roots in the Filipino culture we love and support, and frankly, because those cookies are downright delightful.
It’s also about showing our clients that we’re about more than just business. We like sharing a piece of what makes us tick, which is joy, a touch of irreverence, nightclub levels of energy, and some warm Filipino hospitality. Supporting another Filipino-based small business like Salamat Cookies just ties it all together. It’s our way of saying thanks (Salamat is the Tagalog word for ‘Thank You’) and keeping the connection strong, not just as a company to a client, but from one person to another. When they bite into those cookies, they’re getting a taste of the MajorMajor spirit—joyful, a bit cheeky, and always welcoming.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Friends are by far the best source of clients. I’ve got friends that are clients themselves, and they also refer new clients to us. It’s pretty simple really – you like to work with people you like. It’s not earth-shattering but the simplicity can be forgotten.
