We recently connected with Joyce Ioannou and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Joyce thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Growing up, I was raised by a single mother. I grew up in a middle eastern home and having just a mother meant that she was both parents at the same time. I remember watching her flawlessly divide her time between working and being a mom for my sister and I. She was working 3 jobs, looked very thin and tired but always had a smile on her face. It was that drive to provide and be successful, independent and strong to her daughters that resonated and grew with me into my adulthood.
Joyce, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Joyce Ioannou. I am a wife and mother to 2 beautiful children & 2 fur babies. I have always been driven and sucessful. I never stop ive been told! LOL I have always had a passion for helping people with their health and wellness. From a young age, I would pick up earth and greens , and make tinctures and potions with my mothers pantry items. I would always want sometone to feel better; however, I was not the most healthy child. I had severe undidentified pains in my stomach, years later in my adulthood would carry on to reproductive issues. My biggest moment would be battling breast cancer and pregnancy together. Yup! That is where it started for me….I integrated traditional and holistic alternative medicine into my treatment. I am most proud of my courage, determination and belief in alternative medicine. This shows in my positive responses in clients health cases, most of them cancer and serious clinical cases. I am a big believer in never holding up that ‘white flag’ , once you do you might as welll go down with the ship. Stay positive and believe in the potential to put your health into your hands. Educating my clients is very important to me as well. I give them the tools they need to fine tune their health and bodies. It is up to them to do so. Cedars Wellness Clinic will grow in the next few years to offer more alternative modalities in the Hastings County township of Marmora and Lake. I encourage anyone that may have questions about Clinical Aromatherapy to reach out. These are clients that ave tried everything else, and are looking for another avenue. Our promise for health to our clients is to help them achieve their ultimate health goals.
Cedars Wellness Clinic offers services in clinic, Corporate Offices and in your own space. I even come out to special events such as baby showers and birthday, girls spa days too. The last few years have been very hard on human kind, so now more than ever is time to invest in our health and well-being.
I am also the Director of Women In Wellness Marmora, we put on a wellness expo every March during Intl. Women’s Week to help promote alternative health modalities.
I am a speaker, educator, ambassador and regional representative for the Reflexology Association of Canada.
Youth Empowerment Coach. My passion is helping young enrepreneurs with start-up and locating resourses for funding for their ideas. A Big Sister of Business! :)
Thank you so much for allowing me to share my story with you. Much blessings and abundance to us all for 2024!
We’d appreciate any insights you can share with us about selling a business.
Yes I have. I was the creator and owner of Kreative Kidz Art Bus. Its a mobile art studio for children. I grew with the business and went from doing social events, to corportate events and partnering with YMCA as an approved vendor for camps.
Until COVID-19 and the pandemic, we moved out of the city to Marmora and I had decided to sell the business. At that time, there was another lady that had also freshly started a mobile bus similar to mine. I connected with her and we found many things in common. I was skeptical at first, but I knew in my heart that this is the best thing for myself and the clients…..the children.
I learned that life opens many doors for you, and yes….when one door closes another brighter doors is waiting with your next growth and opportunity. Your have to be confident that the decision to sell is completely what you want. in my case, the timing was right and I was onto my next chapter.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
If we could all have a line up outside all of our businesses the day we established our businesses it would be amazing!! Lets be real, it takes about 4 years to get a new business to a certain level of clientele/growth. I believe for myself that the most effective strategy for growing my clientele is in the care I give my clients. Each client and their unique stories are my passion. Treat everyone how you would like to be treated, and in the case of Cedars Wellness Clinic….well, I provide a very relaxed environment. No stress, no phones, and a one on one space that feels like a friends episode. From that , word of mouth seems to be the most effective for myself…. there may be many other practitioners like me…but there is only 1 Joyce. (This is what I’ve been told by many clients).
