Hi JOYCE, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
We have been manufacturing and marketing an adjustable lap table for the needlework industry since 2013. The idea for the tablet holder came from our customers. Many of them told us they were using their Lap App for their tablets.
JOYCE, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We started by making adjustable lap tables for needle work enthusiasts and when many of them said they were also using theirs for there tablets we decided to “tweek” the needlework version and create one that could be used for tablets and hand held devices. The Perfekt Holder is handcrafted in South Carolina. We have partnered with The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department to assemble the Perfekt Holders and support their goal of helping eligible South Carolinians with disabilities achieve and maintain competitive employment.
The Perfekt Holder rotates to allow the user to view in portrait or landscape mode. The user can adjust the height and pitch angle of the surface using knobs. It has a lip that prevents the device from falling off. It also has a convenient space for charging cable. A cork base allows it to easily rest on lap or flat surface. It is perfect for using on the couch or easy chair, at a desk, streaming videos in bed or while working at a desk or on the kitchen countertop.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
We sell through our own websites as well as on Amazon and Etsy. We prefer selling on our own website because the profit margins are higher.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth and satisfied customers are the best source of new customers for us. We really work at creating happy customers and providing good customer service.
