We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jovana Stosovic. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jovana below.
Jovana, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Being raised by a single mother who was foreign at that; came with a treasure chest full of tips and tricks to help me along the journey of life.
A life motto my mom has always preached to us is that “There’s always a solution.” Regardless of the challenge at hand, and no matter how difficult, there is a way to solve it. Even if it’s not the way you expected it. It may not be an easy path to travel or endure, and at points it may feel unbearable, but the end results always seem to be in your best interest AND will be worth it.
I appreciate this lesson so much especially when I come across a challenge in my photography or day to day life. There’s no point putting yourself through the stress when there still lies the potential to persevere. Life is too short to not spend our time enjoying it or not truly living it. Another lesson my mom engraved in our brains is that life is for the experiences, embrace every moment to the fullest and savor it.

Jovana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have always had a passion for photography ever since I was a kid watching my mom with her Canon.
I had taken a photography class in high school that helped me realize I had an eye for it. I never truly believed in myself enough to think I could do this professionally until I was well into my mid twenties. That’s upsetting to think about how long I allowed myself and these false narratives to take away precious time from what I’ve always been called to do.
My photography is known to consist of being candid and having authentic interactions captured into a still moment in time. A piece of nostalgia for the future. A reminder of a time and place that will never be again.
My photography goes beyond making memories. It’s an experience where we witness and make magic happen, build a friendship, and let everyone be themselves even if it’s not all smiles. It’s always important to be yourself. My only wish is that my clients continue to become friends as I cherish experiencing these moments with them.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a photographer is getting to experience these precious moments with each of these people. Whether it be a union of two people in love, or a first time meeting between a brother and sister in 40 years. I feel so grateful to get to experience any time I spend with my clients as I view time as the most value-able currency in the world.
We are all limited to time and anyone who decides that I’m special enough to spend time with them and some of their closest people or pals, then they are deserving of my time and energy as well. I find that opportunity the most rewarding moments in my field.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What I believe helped me build my reputation within the photo field is that I’ve always been authentic and genuine in what I do. I will let you know honestly if I think a specific pose or area would look better while always having your best interest in mind.
I will also make you laugh. On purpose, on accident, a mixture of both . You will LAUGH, a lot. All of my clients have come from word of mouth and it’s helped me continue to build a clientele. Always being consistent and myself has made my clients much more comfortable and confident in my capabilities. I look forward to seeing how many more lives I continue to encounter and how many impact mine on a personal level. A little bit of kindness and human interaction goes a long way these days.
