We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Josselyn Amparan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Josselyn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
I started going to concerts and taking photos of the artists with just my phone, so I decided to edit my photos differently by writing and drawing on top of them. Over time, I decided to get a professional camera. I consider this; a personal project dedicated to my love for music and concerts. I like to reflect the lyrics of a song through lettering, expressing, and transmitting the mood and feeling. I experiment and play around with the space or things in the surroundings. I also do graphic design and motion graphics, and I’m innovating my work and creative process.

Josselyn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Jossy, an animator and digital artist from Venezuela currently based in Miami/Orlando, United States. My work includes graphic design, motion graphics, lettering, 3D, and photography. I have a passion for visual storytelling, and when I’m not doing client work: you might see me making my illustrations, designs, and animations!
One of my favorite projects is a music video for J Balvin & Metallica, where I created an animated lettering; it was implemented into the official music video. I also have done visualizers for local artists and events such as the “Sorry Papi Tour.”

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I think the best strategy for growing my clientele it’s being active on social media. You need to show your work, always!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being an inspiration for people who wants to be an artist and start in the creative field.
