We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Josie and Jack Delac. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Josie and Jack below.
Josie and Jack, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Our mission as a small business is the magnify the glory of God present in each love story and family who we get to capture. Our business is just as much a ministry for us as a business because our entire goal is to walk with other couples to heaven in the Vocation of Marriage!
It all began when we got married in February 2022. We had been looking for specifically Catholic photographers who understood the Catholic liturgy and Mass and who could capture it reverently and artistically in a way that we liked. We didn’t find those photographers for our own wedding, so we decided to be them for other couples! It’s a joy and a privilege to be able to serve the clients we do who, like us, are seeking the Lord through the Vocation of Marriage!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We are Josie and Jack Delac… also known as The Delac Collective! Expert dancers (at least we like to say so…). Adventure seekers. Amateur cooks. Occasional athletes. Coffee-aholics. Chocolate addicts. Twin parents. Beach goers. Best friends. And Jesus lovers.
We fell in love with the Lord long before we fell in love with each other; yet through our Vocation to marriage, we’ve found how tangibly, passionately, and intimately the Lord desires to pursue each and every one of us. Our love story was unexpected, but SO providential: We met at a brunch in 2021 (a WEEK after Jack moved to Florida), went on our first date a week later, and the rest is history! We found that when God wants something, He moves! We got married February 5, 2022 (a little over a year after meeting!) and welcomed our beautiful twins to our family in October 2023. God is never outdone in generosity when we entrust our lives to Him!! We are continuously being drawn to the Lord through each other in marriage, which is actually what inspired us to start the Delac Collective!
We began this business in 2022 (the year we got married) and desire to inspire and encourage other couples entering the Sacrament of Marriage (or those already living it out) to continuously seek the Lord in and through each other. In a world that can often degrade marriage and family life, we want to continuously uplift and encourage others to seek good, holy, Sacramental marriages. St. John Paul II once said, “The body, and it alone, is capable of making visible what is invisible: the spiritual and the divine. It was created to transfer into the visible reality of the world the mystery hidden since time, and thus to be a sign of it (TOB February 20, 1980).”
We run this business because we are passionate about capturing and inspiring human love and relationships—as they are meant to draw us closer to heaven, to the divine love of God (as St. John Paul II says). We strive to highlight God’s love for each person, made tangible through human relationships and love stories. God became man to draw us to Himself. So, as we like to say around here… Through your love, may God be magnified!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When we brought our twins into the world in October 2023, we had to pivot our business in a big way. Up until that point, I (Josie) was able to work normal work hours and had full autonomy over my day and time to get the work done that I needed to. As any parent can attest to, that all changes with kids—and praise God! It’s teaching us how to stretch and give of ourselves in a way that hurts. It has also allowed us to choose family first over the business when we have to. However, the biggest challenge after the twins came into our world has been finding time to work on the business when Jack works a 9-5 job during the week, and I am the primary caretaker of the kids when he’s working. We haven’t figured out the perfect solution yet, but right now it involves getting up a couple hours before the kids to get some work done, working during naps, and receiving help from family and friends nearby!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
To be honest, we don’t have the largest social media following, and that’s okay with us. I would love to spend all day working on the business, marketing, etc, but our family comes first, and I don’t have the ability to spend hours on marketing these days. Since having kids, I’ve really had to double down and prioritize what’s most important for us and what will make the most impact. Since the start of our business, we’ve tried to focus on consistency on social media (posting 1-2 times a week and showing up on stories a few other times a week). Otherwise, we entrust the rest to the Lord and pray that He brings us the clients He wants us to serve and the number of clients that we need to meet our financial goals. He’s never let us down yet, and we are so grateful!!! I share this because I think so much emphasis is placed on numbers and having a big following online, but if that doesn’t really align with your business goals, it’s not the most important thing anyway!
