Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joshua Willoughby . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Joshua , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
:*The Birth of the Willoughby Compound: A Veteran’s Vision for Community and Healing**
In the heart of our community, a beacon of hope and camaraderie stands tall – the Willoughby Compound. This unique venue, a testament to resilience and unity, is the brainchild of a local veteran who envisioned a space where fellow veterans could find solace, support, and a sense of belonging.
The story of the Willoughby Compound is one of transformation and purpose. Its founder, a decorated veteran, returned from service with a burning desire to give back to the community and assist fellow veterans grappling with the invisible wounds of war. The vision was clear – create a venue that provides outdoor entertainment for the community and serves as a sanctuary for veterans.
The Willoughby Compound is more than just a venue. It’s a symbol of the strength and spirit of our community, a place where laughter echoes against the backdrop of live music, where children play under the watchful eyes of their parents, and where veterans find a sense of peace and camaraderie.
But the vision didn’t stop there. Recognizing the therapeutic power of physical activity and the bond of shared experiences, the founder launched the “Heroes Lifting Heroes” campaign. This initiative aims to alleviate the stresses of war and the challenges of transitioning to civilian life. It’s a platform where veterans uplift each other, sharing their stories, struggles, and triumphs while engaging in uplifting physical activities.
The Willoughby Compound and the Heroes Lifting Heroes campaign are more than just a venue and a program. They are a testament to veterans’ resilience and the community’s power. They are a reminder that even in the aftermath of war, there is room for joy, healing, and unity. They are a tribute to the heroes who have served our country and a commitment to ensuring they receive the support they deserve.
As we enjoy the entertainment and camaraderie at the Willoughby Compound, let’s remember the vision and purpose behind its creation. Let’s honor the veterans who have served us by supporting them in their journey of healing and reintegration. After all, we are a community, and together, we are stronger.

Can you talk to us about your experience with selling businesses?
I once Ran a Barbershop, I became a master barber and I opened up my very own shop in Texas, under the guidance of
DAMIAN AND JERMAINE JOHNSON,I saw what it took to run and operate a successful business, dealing with clients, orders
and providing the ultimate haircut was taxing at times, i stuck with it I was taught that hey you build grow it and let someone
manage and you go duplicate another success story, and that made me sell and pick and follow my vision of the Willoughby
Compound (Heroes Lifting Heroes)
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
In the journey of life, we often learn lessons that shape our perspectives and guide our actions. However, sometimes, the most profound growth comes not from learning, but from unlearning. For me, the most significant lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that everyone shares your vision.
As the founder of the Willoughby Compound and the “Heroes Lifting Heroes” campaign, my vision was clear – to create a sanctuary for veterans and a hub of outdoor entertainment for the community. I believed in the power of unity, the strength of shared experiences, and the healing potential of camaraderie. I assumed that everyone would see the value in this vision and join me in making it a reality.
However, reality painted a different picture. Not everyone shared my vision. Some couldn’t see the potential impact, while others had different priorities. It was a hard pill to swallow. I had to unlearn the notion that everyone would automatically align with my vision.
But in unlearning this, I discovered a more profound truth – the vision is bigger than one person. If a man goes down, the mission must carry on. The vision of the Willoughby Compound and the “Heroes Lifting Heroes” campaign was not tied to any one individual’s participation. It was, and still is, a collective effort fueled by a shared commitment to our veterans and community.
This realization was liberating. It allowed me to focus on those who did share the vision, those who were willing to roll up their sleeves and work towards making it a reality. It taught me to appreciate the diverse perspectives within our community and to find common ground where we could all stand together.
The journey to establish the Willoughby Compound and the “Heroes Lifting Heroes” campaign has been a journey of unlearning and relearning. It has been a testament to the power of resilience, the importance of adaptability, and the impact of a shared vision.
In the end, the lesson I had to unlearn became the catalyst for a more inclusive, resilient, and impactful vision
