Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joshua Smith . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Joshua, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
After working in Houston real estate for 8 years, I grew an appreciation for interior design. I started cultivating my passion and would take annual trips to the Round Top Antiques Festival. I wanted to foster my passion and decided to move out of my home state and attend the New York School of Interior Design. While attending school, I joined the team at Steven Gambrel, an influential interior design firm specializing in high-end residential and commercial commissions worldwide. It was the inspiration I needed to create Joshua Smith, Inc. in 2013.
Interior design allows us to reflect on our growth and our vision for ourselves and our lives. Building my firm, where I value my client’s connection to their space has been life-changing for me. I’m able to utilize my special skill set and help my clients elevate their experience every day by cultivating the connections between mind, body, spirit, and space.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
With projects on both coasts, Joshua Smith Inc offers full-service residential interior design. For my work, I draw on decades of experience transforming functional spaces into environments that engage the senses and nourish the soul. I have a holistic approach to design – beginning each residential interior design project with a holistic analysis to learn more about the client, their space, and their vision for how they want to live. The Joshua Smith, Inc brand is continuing to expand through the creation of Joshua Smith Home, which will feature a curated collection of my favorite things available on my website.
The firm’s work has been featured in House Beautiful, Veranda, The New York Times, and Rizzoli’s 2019 book, “On Style.”
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As I previously shared, I went down a dark path when I was younger and found myself homeless, and without the resilience and courage to reimagine a better life, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

How did you build your audience on social media?
My purpose is to help others live with more beauty, love, and connection. Through my social media channels, I like to give my followers an authentic look into my practice and enjoy sharing all facets of my life. I have found it successful to use multiple mediums like images and video. I like to share actionable and digestible ways my followers can use my principles to bring my beauty and connection in their lives.
