We recently connected with Joshua Proby and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, thanks for joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
While serving 12 years in prison I knew that I wanted to be a Speaker and Author but just did not know how it would be done. I had been removed from society for so long so many questions such as am I good enough, Do I really have what it takes where consistent things that popped in my mind. Although I had penned 17 self-help books while incarcerated four of those books being written while in solitary confinement for 2 years doubt was still there. With my release date fast approaching I had my plan in place and just knew that if I Trusted in GOD, everything would play itself out as my Pastor Keith Bradley would say.
Upon my release May 27 2018 I aggressively approched a way for my book to be put in proper formate for publishing. During this time IU was attending Caldwell Community College for weilding. I stumbled across there writing department and ran into 3 guys who changed my life Mr. Hunt who listened to a stranger walking into his office telling him about my story, who then contacted Robert Canipe and Richard Eller. They heard my story and decided to publish my first book and the rest is history.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

What I feel separate me from other is the ability to be Authentic with application! it is one thing to be authentically yourself but in allot of cases authenticity seems to only be owned by the person rather than their authenticity of the person being so relatable that it becomes an action for all. I truly believe that through this form of writing and living many people find themselves in my story in a way that they are able to tell their story as well.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There where many times that i did not think that I would make it, but my faith in GOD kept me going When I was released from prison I had to start over and I had to ride a moped back and forth to work. one day i had fallen off of that moped and it was the day it seemed like everything was going wrong. People driving past laughing at me and my pride was crushed it was in that time that i realized that if i was going to make it in my business as an author and speaker it had to more about who i knew i was destined to be rather than what my pride could not accept.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn that despite me being molested at a young age my past pain was not my promised future. The pain of my past lead me down a life of nothing but pain hurt and drove me into being anergy and I knew that that pain could not be a part of my future
