Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joshua Jones. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Joshua, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
I acquired my first client by fibbing. A year ago I was bouncing around the idea of joining the van life movement. I hated my day job and my apartment so it seemed like a great idea. One day at work I noticed a St Pete police officer sitting across the street we chatted I asked him the legality of living in a van. He just assumed I was homeless which I still find funny. He asked me what I did for a living at the time I was embarrassed by my day job so I lied and said I pressure wash homes. He hired me to clean his driveway and his backyard basket ball court. I went out that day and bought my first Pressure Washer and the rest is history. Pressure Pug LLC was born.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The industry fell into my lap. For years I watched asmr videos of pressure washing, which lead me down a YouTube rabbit hole and eventually to Facebook groups for fellow contractors to learn more about the business side of things.
I feel the only thing that sets me apart from a lot of others in my industry and area is greed. I don’t care about the money rather then the time I get back. This mentality has helped me be the best I can be for my clients. To earn my time back I have to be great at what I do for my clients.
To finish this question I’m most proud of my repeat business. We’re only a year into this and already have my loyal customers and to me that’s what this is all about.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I don’t think I’m special but I knew I wanted this to succeed more then anything else I’ve ever done. So I quit my day job as a valet, gave up my apartment moved in on my buddies couch and used every penny I had to buy equipment, insurance and get my llc set up.
Shout out to William Sheeler with out him I’d be stuck working a job I hate to over pay for an apartment I didn’t want.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My most effective strategy is I take my Pug with me everywhere I go. Her cuteness attracts people and conversations. And my favorite line is “Did you know she owns her own business?” Which I then proceeded to pull out my Pressure Pug business card.
I then let them know that I’m only the worker and she’s the real boss. I do all the work and she takes all the money!
I do it more for my amusement now but it does pay off.
