We recently connected with Joshua Gomez and have shared our conversation below.
Joshua, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I’m just excited for what’s coming! I’ve had so many stories I want to tell, something so new and fresh I want to bring to fans of heavy music, and music in general, really. The EP I have coming out this year dives into all that, the characters and backstories and the psychological theories behind it all, there’s so many layers I have set up that I can’t wait to share with fans through music videos, the cover art, the live show, and the music of course.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Of course! Well, my name is Joshua Gomez, and I’m a cinematic hard rock artist. I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida a huge fan of pro wrestling and video games, and my music takes a lot from the soundtracks of both of those mediums, joined with my post grunge, alt metal style. I’m also a producer, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and while I’m bragging I’d say I’m pretty good at poker too.
As for how I got into the industry, I was writing as soon as I picked up a guitar. I never had the desire to be a jukebox, only playing other people’s songs, I wanted to create something unique. Since I was young I always had an internal drive to use this one shot at life to do something big. I didn’t want to be stuck behind a desk, doing something anyone else can do, I wanted to be me to the fullest. It took a while to find just how I’d accomplish that, but now I know music is that thing. With my songs and stories I hope to leave a mark on people’s hearts, and push them to confront their shadow selves, and grow.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I’d say the biggest thing is we need to be more open-minded! There’s so much amazing music and art out there, and it’s more accessible than ever. I know so many great smaller bands, it’s just so hard to cut through the noise as an artist nowadays. I’d just say be open minded and don’t only listen to top 40’s, and you’re doing us proud.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Totally yeah, my main goal is to show people a new perspective. Make them see the world differently, make them see the beauty in themselves. Make them take that chance, and push them to confront their inner darkness and come out a better person. There’s too many close minded, shallow, stereotyping, unfeeling people in the world. It’s so hard to be unapologetically loving. I want to change that. I wanna make the world just a little more empathetic. That’s the big picture tho, if I can touch even one person’s heart and truly affect them with my music, then it’s all worth it.
