We were lucky to catch up with Joshua Dupiton recently and have shared our conversation below.

Joshua, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?

The original intent was never fueled by the pursuit of money. Morph Pictures LLC began in a season of my life where I didn’t know what to do next. There was no clear cut path laid out in front of me on how to successfully follow your dream, even when statistics say otherwise. I was actually dealing with depression and had to face myself with heavy questions: Who am I outside of what it is that I’m striving for? Who am I outside of any other person? Why am I doing what I’m doing? Who do I want to be?

That last question bit me like a radioactive spider… who do I want to be? I’ve always been drawn to underdogs and underdog stories, especially the ones which illustrate transformation. A thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance of the Protagonist when all the stakes are at their highest and failure is seemingly imminent! One day when I was really feeling low, I saw an illustration on the front a T-Shirt that had catalytic impact on me deeply.

It depicted a caterpillar going through each phase of metamorphosis to become a butterfly, in beautifully colorful hand drawn detail. I didn’t have all of the answers to my problems yet, but what I did know was that I just found a visual portrayal that described exactly what it was I was I was going to have to do to get those answers. Morph. Not just Morph the way others see me and my art, but Morph the way I see myself.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Joshua Dupiton and I’m a Cinematographer & Video Editor with 6+ years of comprehensive experience in video production devoted to telling a story visually. I graduated from MediaTech Institute of Dallas with a degree in Digital Film & Video Arts eager to contribute developed knowledge in filmmaking and storytelling.

I started Morph Pictures LLC in October of 2022. Morph Pictures is a Commercial & Film Production Company located in DFW Texas, with an emphasis on Epic Cinematic Visuals. My goal with Morph Pictures LLC is to tell stories that change the way we see ourselves in the face of adversity through crafting immersive worlds that look, feel, and sound so real that they morph the line between the Physical world and Fantasy!

This company caters to individual and corporate clients’ Commercial Video Production needs. I have worked with various notable brands such as Disney+, Twelve Midnight, the XFL, ESPN, Musicbed, & Under Armour capturing beautiful and precious moments expertly behind the lens or behind the keyboard.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

So I actually got fired from my last regular job right before I shot my first spec ad. I used the last check I recieved from that job to invest into the lighting & camera equipment I would need to shoot my first spec commercial. The whole idea of the video was to create something that looked real enough to actually be on TV. Whether Nike saw the video or not wasn’t entirely the point. Another huge factor was showing off our creativity and and originality with a small budget and limited resources. If people were moved by our video and felt inspired, that was enough and could potentially lead to an even greater opportunity than we could have ever imagined down the road. Ultimately that’s exactly what happened. That same year I got to work with brands I had been a huge fan of for years prior and it was the Nike Spec ad that got me in the door. The same goes for my other ads as well, each new video ultimately leads to more open doors.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

Networking and putting myself out there is essential. I used to call myself an introvert but I decided that my love for this craft was greater than my fear of being uncomfortable. Alongside networking, I would also say investing into my education through online courses, film school, and youtube has gotten me where I am to this point.
