We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Joshua Carter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Joshua below.
Alright, Joshua thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue an artistic path professionally was in 2016 when I started working on beat tapes. I had always been a fan of artists like Alchemist, J Dilla, and Madlib, whose work inspired me with their ability to push boundaries and tell stories through their sound. At that time, I hadn’t created anything of my own but felt an urge to contribute something fresh and meaningful to the hip-hop landscape.
It wasn’t just about making beats; it was about creating a sound that could resonate with people and build a lasting connection. I remember sitting in my room, listening to samples, layering sounds, and feeling a rush of excitement when things started to come together. It was in those moments that I felt something click—I wasn’t just doing this as a hobby; this was my calling.
I wanted to offer myself to hip-hop and build from it, not only as a creator but as someone who could contribute to the culture in a genuine way. I was inspired by the raw emotion of soul music and the authenticity of hip-hop. It was impossible for me to sit still and not create; it felt like my creativity was trying to burst out. That intuitive push made me realize that this wasn’t just something I wanted to do for fun—I needed to do this, and I needed to take it seriously. That’s when I knew I had to commit to pursuing it professionally and fully immerse myself in this path.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was born into music. Coming from a music-oriented family that built a hometown legacy of creating and sharing music, it has always been an intrinsic part of who I am. I’ve been actively creating music for over a decade, working in film for nearly half that time, and have been immersed in the music world since I was born in 1990. My journey has been defined by a passion for all things creative—whether it’s songwriting, mixing and mastering tracks, or producing music from the ground up. Beyond music, I also excel in photography and videography, and I’m often out in the field balancing multiple projects, seamlessly combining both crafts.
I provide a comprehensive range of services, including mixing and mastering, music production, and complete packages that integrate video, photo, and music. Essentially, I’m a one-stop shop for all your entertainment and creative needs. What truly sets me apart is my versatility and the genuine care I put into every project. Working with me and my team means getting someone who approaches your project as if it were my own. I’m committed to excellence and authenticity; I take hip-hop and art seriously and aim to make sure my clients receive not just a service, but an experience.
The main problems I solve for my clients revolve around helping them achieve their vision, whether it’s delivering the album they’ve always wanted or capturing the perfect photos and videos. My goal is to create an environment where collaboration thrives, and the outcome is always a product we can all be proud of. What makes me most proud is seeing a client’s idea come to life and knowing that I was a part of that process. I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know that my work is rooted in a deep love for the craft and that working with me means you’re partnering with someone who’s fully invested in bringing your creative vision to reality.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My journey has been wild, full of unexpected twists and lessons, but the core mission driving me has always been to create genuine, impactful, and human art. I’m deeply committed to helping others make their dreams come true or at least helping them move forward on their journey. Whether it’s through producing beats that resonate with someone’s story or capturing raw moments through film and photography, I want my work to be more than just output—I want it to be a catalyst for growth, inspiration, and connection.
Having been immersed in music since birth and honing my craft over decades, I understand that creative work is not just about technical skills; it’s about heart, authenticity, and making a difference in people’s lives. My goal is to share my experiences and talents to build bridges for others, supporting them in reaching milestones they might have thought were out of reach. When I work with artists, I’m not just focused on a project—I’m invested in their story, their growth, and their success.
What sets my mission apart is the genuine care I pour into everything I do. I’m not just about making art for the sake of it; I’m here to collaborate, to listen, and to make sure the people I work with feel empowered and valued. The vision has always been to create a community where hip-hop, film, and photography come together to tell stories that are authentic and meaningful. I strive to create experiences and art that resonate on a human level, touching people’s lives and making a lasting connection.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
There are several resources that have significantly impacted my management and entrepreneurial thinking. Bobby Hemmitt’s lectures have been a huge influence, providing me with deep insights into spirituality and tapping into the unconventional aspects of human potential. I’ve also drawn a lot from lectures on neuroplasticity, which have helped me understand the brain’s ability to adapt and grow—a mindset that’s essential for both personal development and leadership.
Books have played a major role as well. *Man Heal Thyself* has been a guide for self-improvement and understanding holistic approaches to growth, while *No Idea is Final* has taught me to embrace the fluidity of creativity and never become too attached to one idea or outcome. Rick Rubin’s new book has also been transformative; it offers wisdom on nurturing the creative process and balancing the art of being present and visionary at the same time.
These resources have shaped the way I create, lead, and engage with others. They’ve allowed me to cultivate magical moments in my work and have given me the tools to share those moments with others. As an entrepreneur, these lessons have helped me build a foundation where creativity and meaningful experiences go hand in hand with strong management and collaboration.
